Been using OTC hydrocortizone 1% creme and ointment for years on my face to control dermatitis and wondering if it's bad in any way? I find that the ointment is also the most effective thing I've tried for shaving burn so between that and the dermatitis I probably use about 2 oz of this stuff every month for past 20 years. Any thoughts?

DS has very bad eczema, and it's mostly controlled on his body with hydrocortizone and regular moisturizing. However, it is now all over his head, and I have tried baby oil, head and shoulders, and hydrocortizone on his head to no avail. He keeps scratching at his scalp until it bleeds, and he is in obvious discomfort. Applying the cream to his scalp is difficult because of his hair. It just...

Ok here's the story. My daughter had a excema spot that started on her forehead, then spread to her whole face. After using some hydrocortizone it went away, or at least subsided for a week. A couple of other spots popped up around her body. Everynight I give her a baby massage w/ oil. Now she has excema all over her body! It seems like it just spread like wildfire. And at work to I noticed that...

I agree that it looks like excema. My brother had it REALLY bad as a child and he'd get it on the back of his knees and on his ankles. Hydrocortizone was the ONLY thing that worked for him. (Also sweat and heat will make that worse...so try not to wear gloves unless you have to.)

i have had the little bastards for a few months now and nearly got rid of them completely, by using zymaderm and apple cider vinegar that worked amazingly, first apply the zymaderm in a good amount a few times in one day, then get a cotton bud and soak it in acv. tape it on the lesions overnight. the next day it goes angry red put some more zymaderm on and by the end of the day its a scab. this ...

Im telling ya it looks exactly like my LOs and I just had him @ the Drs for it and they said it was ezcema. He even has the tiniest spots on his legs & arms.. also between his eyes and on his cheeks. Its so frustrating to me. On top of that he also has cradle cap now. Hes on hydrocortizone cream for his ezcema & dandruff shampoo for the cap. Sound like EXACTLY what youre going thru.

Well I am glad it does not seem to bad to worry about right now, Hope the hydrocortizone cream makes you feel better. It should I know about the rashes in PG that you were worried about and I think they would have said something if it was any of those. I hope you feel better and are able to enjoy NYC and don't have to go back in a week. Good luck dear just very glad it is nothing dangerous.

My pediatrician also told us to try the over the counter hydrocortizone cream, but he said to ONLY use it once a day. I guess skin can become dependent on hydrocortizone.

Sounds like Natalie. I use the Dove also for the bath..only thing that doesnt bother her. But I was told to only bathe her a few days unless I have to. I know she is more itchy on the days I give her a bath. I also put hydrocortizone ointment on her worse spots before bedtime and then some vaseline over that..the dr told me to do it that way. She said it helps the hydrocortizone stay on ...

Yes, I have it. I have found that hydrocortizone provides short lived relief and taking those aveeno oatmeal baths also provides temporary relief. That's about it. My doctor prescribed me some medicine but it pretty much just makes me fall asleep, doesn't do anything for it.

Might as well bring him in since your Ped is willing to see him. It is common to get a rash from MMR vaccine if he got his shots recently. Natalie has eczema really bad. Mostly on her tummy and sides..thighs and parts of legs and elbows. Also on her cheeks and chin. I have to put hydrocortizone on her twice a day and vaseline throughout the day to get it under control. Drives me crazy, ...
