Does anyone have information or experience about the use of tractor transmission/hydraulic oil in our transmissions. I found very little in searching the subject. What I have heard is that the use of this fluid works well and helps keep transmission fluid temps down. Also, that it is designed to work well in hard high temperature situations that it gets exposed to in agriculture. Any useful ...

I have an old tractor, I know, an old tractor for an old farmer, ha ha. I'm wondering what the best choice is for the trans/hydro sytem. It's a 1962 MF 35. Very much like the old Ford Ns. I changed it a few years ago because it was milky from water, and installed universal oil, called TDH oil, (trans/hydraulic/differential. It was really thin and worked great in winter for moving snow. The hydro ...

Evening All, I am looking at a problem where there is essentially a hydraulic cylinder containing a double acting type rod (with an annulus). There will be some holes in the annulus, which will allow fluid to pass through once there is a load on the end of the rod causing it to extend. The fluid in the cylinder is totally closed in by the bounds of the ...

PJ - I've read in the other threads that the new Hydro oil should be 20W50 Synthetic of any name brand...right? My model is a Mini Z 19/44 (I think a 2004 model) model number 927228. Are my hydros ok to use 20W50 synthetic motor oil? I plan on doing a full hydro oil and filter change and want to make sure on my specific model that I do it right. Thanks man.

Hi, I'm driving a 78 Volkswagen Bus (2 liter air-cooled, hydraulic cam). I'm in LA. 50 degrees is a cold day. My oil temps are usually 180-210F. This is the Type IV engine which has a real oil-filter. I've been using 10W-30 Dino oil (various brands, cheap) and changing about every 3000 miles. The owners manual from 1978 recommends 30 weight but that was before multi-weights were reliable (from ...

berniedd - Ethanol is not going to hurt your carb, or somehow the magnesium alloy case - esp 10%. It is METHANOL that is destructive. Maybe where you are at they use/used methanol. BTW, any VW case that I have lit has had pretty worn tappet faces, and cams.

I'm the new guy on the block, I'm contimplating a transmission rebuild this coming year, I'm interested enough to give the John Deere Hy Gard a try before the rebuild happens. I will seek as much info as I can and watch the posts. Larry. ___________________ 96' Dodge longbed, 12 valve 5.9L,automatic 4X2, stock configuration.
