Yes, my midwife (who is also a CNM and owns a freestanding birth center) will. Oh, and she also has a biller who helps file for insurance exemptions for homebirths. OOP costs with no insurance are around 3500 for a homebirth here. Our OOP WITH insurance for a hospital stay and a c-section were at least that.

I posted a while back about maybe doing a homebirth. No go, it is too expensive. Insurance won't cover it and we can't spring for it out of pocket. I toured the birth center I will be going to, and while the staff is all very nice and supportive of NCB, I was still freaked out by all the medical equipment and the hospital feel of the place. And, the nurse giving the tour said things like ...

Forgive me if this has already been posted. Please check this out-- Dr. Phil's website is soliciting homebirth horror stories-- get happy clients to inundate it with satisfied homebirthers, or go to the site yourself and give your feedback. If we don't respond, he will do a show that slams women's right to birth at home and our sound judgment to make such choices..... ...

Tam we'd joked w/ another Babyfit momma about giving birth on her front lawn since she wasn't sure about the tub in their home (older house and she was worried about the weight on the floors!) My tub also only went to about 22" deep. I didn't think it would be enough. MW said it was perfect b/c if I wanted hands and knees a deeper tub would mean my face was under water. Meanwhile I pictured ...

They can't turn you away if you show up in labor. They put that out here alot cause a majority of wives are standard and worry about getting turned away. If you are not to a point and they are overly full they can move you to a civilian hospital though.

Congrats on your beautiful baby! I am sorry it didn't go exactly as planned, but that is great you were able to go through most of the labor at home, and SO wonderful you were able to avoid a C-section! So happy for you!

Congratulations!! You are amazing with your effort! That's hard work, Mama! I'm glad you and baby are well (take care of your poor perineum....I used this " Soothing After Birth Herbal Bath " after my last birth and it was awesome: http://www.inhishands.com/html/orderherbs.html ). He has such cute, big ol' cheeks! ...

Well we're still baking. She's in the 6th percentile. Although her measurements were even smaller then that. But the doctor is comfortable with me still having an out of hospital birth. My midwife however wants me at the birthing center. Which is fine, I just hate to be in the car(for 40minutes!) in labor. Meh. Not quite what I envisioned. They did a NST and she kept moving, away from the ...
