Hi all. I have very tight molex plugs on my psu and when plugging in my HDD the other day forced the cable in the wrong way round. Suffice to say it wont boot the computer (no post, no power) when the HDD is attached to the psu. I read somewhere on here about being able to desolder a diode and maybe get the data back. Is this correct? And could some kind person tell me what to do? I ...

I've been thinking of getting this HD, but I can't find much on it. I wanted to know if it's a good deal for $70 (I know for 1TB it is, but wasn't sure about the quality). The retail package is a plus for me since it'll have a lesser chance of being doa. I don't have a preference for retail or oem packaging and I'm open to other brands.

Just curious: which store? Since usually Hitachi HDDs have cost extra here in Finland. I'm not in a hurry to expand my capacity (just swapped a dead 1TB Greenpower to 2TB Greenpower so I'll be happy with my capacity for a while) and I know for sure that 5-platter 7200rpm certainly cannot be comparable to 2TB GPs so it's just a matter of curiousity to me. However 7K2000 isn't ...

Are you sure there's no issue with the drive itself? you were able to format it on another system? AFAIK, your mobo should be able to support drives with that capacity. Have you updated the BIOS?

Verbatimin 2TB ulkoisessa raid boxissa on 2kpl Hitachi 1TB levyjä ja ne ainakin rutisevat ja raksuttavat varsin äänekkäästi. Ja tässä lainaus Overclockers UKsivulta: Decent drive for the price, but noisy as hell like most hitachi drives i've had. I have 2 of these in a Raid 1 array. At night I can hear the things from dowstairs or from in another room.
