The cardiovascular complications of obesity have prompted interest in dietary interventions to reduce weight, including low-carbohydrate diets that are generally high in protein and fat. However, little is known about the long-term effects of these diets on vascular health. We examined the cardiovascular effects of a low-carbohydrate, high-protein diet (LCHP) in the ApoE−/− mouse model of ...

Hi, just wondering if anyone has recommendations for some high protein snacks, but that have little to no carbs? All I can think of is meat, eggs and cheese....

Hi, I am looking for a protein bar that is very high in protein and has as few carbs as possible. yes, I know that I need carbs as well, but I have no problem getting carbs. It's the proteins that I am lacking. Any recommendations? I don't care what it tastes like as long as it is high in protein. Also, is it realistic to try to find a protein bar that has more than a 2-1 protein ...

I went to my second ob appt today...I am 12 weeks one day. I have high BP which I had even before pregnancy. The doctor had me do a 24 hour urine protein test last week and he told me today that my protein came back at 315, he said normal in pregnancy is below 300. He told me I do not have preeclampsia because it occurs after 20 weeks of pregnancy. Does this seem normal?? Everything I ...

Ara-Ararauana - which protein shake do you buy and how many carbs are in it? MH - yes, I see your point. I guess I should clarify why I'm asking for such recommendations. I'm not trying to lose weight at all. I have been experiencing ketones in my blood in the morning. It's possibly from not eating anything else after dinner, and then eating a really light breakfast. The suggestion ...

I read that the Zone Diet recommends one loose fistful of higher carb foods like rice, pasta etc and two loose fistful of veggies (with exception of root veg like potatoes of course!) It doesn't "ban" rice, pasta and bread but it does say to see them like a treat to have v occasionally. I'm not recommending the Zone Diet now (I havent tried it) but for carb porton control, I think the fistful ...

Well, I am in between 34 and 35 weeks, and had protein in my urine with no high blood pressure, but at the last visit, my blood pressure had started to elevate...so now I am on bed rest until baby is born! I think there are a few symptoms they look for...protein in the urine, high blood pressure, sudden weight gain, dizziness, headaches, swelling, seeing spots...I think that they monitor how ...

that's ridiculous. you won't wreck (notice: i spelled the word right) muscle recovery. that has no physiological basis whatsoever. anyway, i suggest either a protein shake: casein protein, not whey. or equally as good is just some milk with fruit or cereal on the side. you want to take a slow digesting protein as to prevent muscle breakdown that happens during sleeping time best of luck...

( Not that you asked, but I don't like the calcium that high, but then, I'm a lil OCD on some stuff. So, just this one read is a hair high? Range tops out at 8.0 or 8.1? But the albumin is merely "very nice", nothing flashy. If it was mine, I'd ask about it, but not freak out. ,)
