Hi Bogleheads: I just bought a new (to me) 2005 Toyota Sienna XLE with 133,000 miles. The car was a one-owner and by all accounts seems to have been well taken care of. (I bought it from a small dealer who accepted it on trade just about a week ago - the title bore all of this out.) The price was fair and I was able to pay cash so I'm happy to not be going into any car debt ...

High Mileage Elise - What to look out for? I'm thinking of looking at a high mileage '05 Elise that is for sale. It has about 55,000 miles. Is there anything in particular that should I look out for other than what I have outlined below? Inspect items per the "Tips for buying used..." sticky thread. Pre-purchase inspection at a ...

My husband and I own a mechanical shop and so see a lot of cars through our business. The two most reliable cars that we have seen, just from our personal experience, are subarus and hondas. Obviously any car can become a lemon if it is not taken care of right. These seem to be quite long lasting cars if taken care of properly. One of our customers has ...

OK its been a while since I've been on this forum since I re-acquired a taste for motorcycles. My 1998 Ex-cab 4x4 Taco is now up to 347-K miles with no issues. Uses no oil that I can tell, no smoke and still has OE clutch. My question is how many Tacos do we have out there that are 350+ with no engine rebuild? I'm hoping to go way past 400K with mine......

Did an oil change on a cavalier at work today that had 818322 miles on it. I asked the customer if it was correct and he said to his knowledge nothing was altered. And it looked it too... Had NO rear shocks, the back was smashed in and then pulled back out. Oh and when i asked for the keys he said the screw driver in between the seats

Hi there, I'm new on here and a prospective owner of a high mileage Forester. The vehicle I'm looking at is a late 2005 2.5XTE model that has just covered 100,000 miles. The Forester has also been fitted with LPG which is the main reason I'm considering this model. I've still to see the vehicle in the flesh but was wondering what I should be looking out for in terms of service history and ...

What is everyone's advice onbuying a one owner - high mileage Cayenne? Hve driven many as loaner vehicles - some with 30,000 miles that were not that impressive. My dealer has one with 88,000 miles driven by a local lady realtor. It drives like a dream - it is an S model with every option - $75,000 original sticker. The dealer wants $24,000 - thinking of pulling...

I bought my '06 (SG) 2.5XT (leather, no Nav) pretty much 12 months ago when the fuel had just been sat around the £1.25 mark. It had 58k miles on the clock - all motorway, good condition and full Subaru SH. All reciepts (cambelt / fluids etc) all MOTs, bills and pretty much as-new. Bought from a non-Subaru dealer and paid £7k. Best ...

The big one / expense is: timing belt Which it looks like you are covered for a while. I didn't look up the car (not familiar with the model) but my guess is that it is likely a FWD (front wheel drive). A problem / maintenance issue with FWD cars is the CV Joint Boots. They seem to have a life of around 100k miles or so (give or take). So if those have never been replaced - then that may...

High Mileage is but a number... I reluctantly traded in my fully Porsche dealer serviced 2004 CS with 134K miles on it for a similarly serviced newer pristine CPO 2006 CS Titanium Ed. with 29K miles on it. Given my extensive all season (mostly Interstate Highways) traveling, I felt that it was a necessity. It was close ...

I bought my 05 BXS with 600K on it, now has 695K and zero problems. I also have a 13 speed with 3:36's on 22.5 lo pros. After finding that it likes Delvac it now uses 2 gallons of oil in the 30,000 mile oil change. Also got the fuel mileage up from 4.8 to 6.3 from what I learned on this forum. And looking for more......
