Do you need to run race gas when using aftermarket pistons with a higher compression ratio than stock? As part of a complete motor inspection/refresh, I'm looking at replacing my worn stock 06 GSXR 600 pistons (12.5:1 CR) with some Wiseco pistons (13:1 CR) while keeping the displacement stock at 600cc. This is for a small boost in power, and I can get a Wiseco kit with pistons, rings, wristpins...

Hello everyone. I am looking to order a set of pistons from Wiseco and I'm wondering if anyone is running a 12 or 13:1 CR and has the demensions handy for those pistons. also did you have to bore it 40 over? thank you for any info - Jeremy

I've found high compression pistons at srmotorsports and at protegegarage, but theres a pretty huge prize difference. $79 a pop at srmotorsports and $599 for a set at protegegarage. Why the big difference? Do you "only" get pistons and no pistonrings from srmotorsports or is it just the quality of the steel that differs from the two?? If anyone knows or think they do, please say so....

Ls/B20 Vtec (High compression -Low boost) Straight to the point - i see the threads and the videos on ls/b20 vtec builds. Most suggest the same thing. ls/b20V all motor high compression or low compression turbo. Anyone Have an engine built with ls/b20V build running sligthly higher compression ( for a ls/b20v ) running low boost? - ...

If you want consistent power throughout the season, stick with the OEM pistons. If you want something that makes power on the dyno when the engine is first built but then rattles and uses oil after a few race weekends then go Wiseco or JE.

do not mill your heads that far, you will not get your manifold to fit and will never get that motor timed correctly, they don't know these motors at all. They WIlL have to be custom pistons like I already told you! And you should get them in an oversized variety, so that the machinist will bored each cylinder individually to match each piston on a motor like this. If you send them a piston ...
