Hi! My doctor's nurse just called and gave me the results from my MRI yesterday. I have a minimal bulge at L4-L5, disc protrusion at L5-S1, and a paracentral disc herniation at L5-S1. What does this mean, and what options do I have besides surgery? I've had epidural injections in the past for the bulge, but now my back is worse. My legs give out and I can barely walk or stand the pain. ...

Hi Adam, Not sure if you deal with these kind of questions but im sure you have some feedback. I am 22 years old with a L5/S1 Disc herniation for the past two years+. I have relieved my pain threw training my back %26 core area with a sports therapist. Since January I have been in the gym continuing the core/back workouts as well as weight training every other muscle. I have not had any issues...

My daughter is 19 and is 5 weeks post op. I just found this forum today. Wish I would have found it sooner. We are from Seattle but because her herniation was not quite long enough no one in Seattle would touch her. We met with Dr. Michael Seiff in Las Vegas and he agreed that she did need surgery. We have been trying to figure out what was wrong with her for 10 years. She ...

Can you explain my MRI results. Mild spondylosis and/or posterior disc bulge, C4-5,C5-6,C6-7, impinges on the ventral thecal sac. There is dorsal encroachment of the thecal sac at C5-6 and C6-7 by hypertrophic facet joints. There is no focal disc herniation, epidural mass, cord compression, central canal stenosis or foraminal narrowing. There is normal cervical curve, normal spinal alignment and...

Thanks guys! Leeaelle - it is a form of reflux that goes all the way up your throat (unlike Gerd that stays in the esophagus) and can flow up out the nose and cause post nasal drip. Mine they believe is refluxing out my nose and partially into my lungs. The mass in my throat they think is believed to be an irritant/causal from the reflux. We are hoping so anyway. My disk ...

It is good that you are getting relief from the medication. Some people live for years with the meds and then gradually are able to get away from them. In your case I would be willing to have a microdisectomy to reduce the size fo the herniation to see if that helps. I did this and found out in my case that I had IDD which was the cause of my back pain. Like you I didn't have leg pain but did...

This makes sense, because of obvious pressure issues. I suppose for now I am his, and a neurologist's mercy. thank you guys for the information and help... 2 ...
