I had surgery to repair an inguinal hernia on June 12. I am still experiencing tenderness and soreness off and on with what feels like residual swelling. Not pain, just low-level soreness. I would think it would have healed by now, given that I've done nothing to aggravate it. I called the surgeon's office and the receptionist said that I should come in and get checked if it's still ...

( Had appointment with Dr. Cacucci this morning. Heather is to call me with hernia surgery date Monday..and it will be in 2009 so we had to postpone getting the 'girls' done on Dec. 1st. She measured the hernia...13" x 11"!! The three hernias have combined to form one humongous one. I'll let you all know when surgery will be. It'll be in-patient \(of course\) at St. V's Carmel. FYI...Marta...

( We have lots of new post-ops posting, so since lots of surgeons fail to mention this, I wanted to repost the information on a very common side-effect of RNY: Petersen's Hernia. I have had 2 \(one in April, and the 2nd one 2 weeks ago\). ER doctors usually look at you like you have 2 heads and often will not listen. It is CRITICAL--like LIFE OR DEATH CRITICAL--that you MAKE THEM HEAR YOU. ...

Hi, I am interested in hearing from people who have had surgery for hiatal hernia and gerd. I would also like to know about TIF and EsophyX procedures, which are less invasive than regular surgery. From what I have read, these procedures offer a good alternative to years of medications and suffering. Please reply if you have had surgery or either of these procedures. scb11

So my son was born with an Umbilical Hernia and after we left the hospital he became severely constipated and at 9 months he is still constipated and is on a supplement of Miralax daily. I read that constipation is a complication of an umbilical hernia. His doctor says that it is really rare but I am still worried. Can anyone give me advice on what I should do? Reata Van

Just to let everyone know that Frisky has had his operation to repair a double perineal hernia as well as being castrated. It has taken just over 4 hours and the vet has said she is pleased with how things went. She has managed to do both sides of the hernia in the one op so that is a blessing for him. She has said it was a bad one and now we have to pray for no complications like any pinched ...

First of all, I'm new to the board but have found this to be a great source of information so far so I thought I would try here for advice first. We picked up our little Boston puppy Sloan 4 weeks ago now, and while she has been a handful, she's been a great addition to our home. She's now 13 weeks old and just had her 3rd shots a couple days ago. When we were at the vet I asked about her "...

DD has one. The Dr said that if it doesn't close by the time she turns 2, then she needs surgery. I have an appointment with the surgeon on wednesday. I was reading online that if it doesn't close by the time they are 4, then they will need surgery. So, my question is, did your child need surgery for it? If so, how old was he/she?
