LOW HEMOGLOBIN 1 year ago, normal: now have dropped below normal. Started Lupron 1 year ago. All white blood counts normal and Dr has ordered iron related tests. I see on Mayo Clinic site this can be caused by lower testosterone levels: again, I am on Lupron for one more year (PSA undetectable). Maybe this explains why treadmill workouts have become much harder to do? Anyway Doctor/nurse...

I've never been anemic. Maybe after csections and I didn't realize it, but I've never been told I have low iron, etc. I've donated blood for years and have never had a comment about hemoglobin being low. yesterday I donated at our church blood drive. I don't have my cycle and I haven't had surgery, etc. So I have the fingerstick and the tech asks if I'm anemic, my hemoglobin is ...

I was informed at our 2 month check up last month that Isabella has a third kind of blood Hemoglobin C. The pedi said that it wouldn't effect her in any way when she was young but when she grew up and decided to get pregnant the baby could have a chance of having sickel cell disease if the daddy had it. I don't understand....is my LO in any kind of danger? The Social Security office sent me a ...

I have my appt. with a cardiac surgeon tomorrow to discuss surgery. Among other things, I am concerned about my hemoglobin level. My cardio drew blood 3 weeks ago when I had my stress echo....and was concerned that I might be slightly anemic with a reading of 11.3.... I consulted with my internist just in case this SOB etc, might be caused by something other than my leaky valves.....he said ...

Hey ladies, my ped mentioned that he wanted to check Ryan's hemoglobin as protocol sometime between 9-12 months to see what his iron level is. My first ped (she was just transferred in Oct out of state) never did this with DS1 and these doctor are in the same practice. Has anyone else's ped gotten blood work done? My DH and I may just refuse it when we go for a weight check on the 30th. We feel...

Hi, My HGB was 14 so they took me off procrit until it dropped to 11 and then I resumed it in small doses. I then dropped fast from 11 to 6.4 before they caught it again the next month. I refused a transfusion because of fears of antibodies and waited 1 more week with higher doses of procrit. I ended up hitting 5.8 before I had no choice and went for 1 pint of blood. The procrit and healthy ...

Hi everyone! I'm new here and I was wondering if anyone might be able to post some opinions on this. I am anemic (hemoglobin count 11.6 last time, and rising!) and I also have low albumin. My GP suspects I have anemia of chronic disease and suspects low albumin is also because of chronic inflammation. I have Crohn's disease so that's why. My heart beat is really strong and pretty fast (...

A 22-year-old white male presented to the emergency room (ER) with the sudden onset of acute right upper quadrant pain. The ultrasound showed cholelithiasis. Initial evaluation revealed hemoglobin of 9 gm/dl with an MCV of 90 fl and a total reticulocyte count of 1000 cells per microliter. Peripheral smear revealed polychromatophilia and spherocytes. Liver function tests revealed an elevated ...

I was suffering from sever pain, inability to work, and depression. I was also extremely anemic. My blood hemoglobin was about .4. I received 4 units of blood. While receiving the blood, I felt my bladder sort of quiver, and the pain started disappearing. That was nearly a month ago. Now I don't have any pain unless I eat something really, really spicy. This may not may any sense, but it is a ...

My 15 year old daughter has hemolytic anemia (yet hemoglobin is 12.4), hemolysis, jaundice, total billirubin of 2.7 mostly indirect, high retic count (7.3%) and gall stones or billistones. Liver function tests are normal. MCV and MCH are slightly elevated. Spleen and liver are normal in size. The anemia is not autoimmune. The doctors are thinking this may be a rare, even undiscovered, heredity ...

I started hemorrhaging at work and the day we were leaving for Disneyland. Turns out my delivery at 18 weeks had residual tissue misdiagnosed as blood clots began to purge and I started losing tons of blood. I was admitted and my hemoglobin dropped to 7. I was discharged after a D&C and started hemorrhaging again Thursday soaking towels every hour. I went straight to the ER and was admitted again...

My medical condition still sucks. I am out of Oxycodone and making do with strong over the counter pain relief meds, which helps some. I have very low hemoglobin count. But, I am feeling quite well all things considered. I just got out of the hospital again this past November 17, which is a most painful story. I woke up laying on my back. I usually do not like sleeping on my ...

This may end up being more information than you wanted to know... I've been donating blood since I was 17, and I've only been deferred for low iron a half dozen or so times. But--this year when I had my annual physical, my doctor said I was anemic. Shortly after that, I changed doctors, and my new doctor explained anemia to me like this. There are 2 things that are measured for ...

I had a lot of trouble with hemoglobin levels getting ready for surgery. I was always 10.1, 10.2, 10.0, 9.9, ... you get the idea. It seemed like it was checked 1-2 times a week for a month or more. Part of the time I was having blood drawn for an autologous blood transfusion and the surgeon kept worrying about my blood chemistry. He told me it was the only thing he worried about in my case. I ...
