Child Benefit Helpline on 0845 302 1444 Is this really a 'Helpline' or a first line of defence ? The thing is every time you call the first thing they will say is that they are still within their time limits, well they aren't now. I telephoned Goodmans Helpline for a friend, luckily via SAY NO TO 0870 as was an 0871 number!! It cut off after 27 mins!!!!! I am annoyed but would have been fuming had I paid £3 or so!!!

Child benefit shouldn't be taking that long to process! I would either get in contact with your local MP and see if he/she can hurry things along or go via the child benefit complaints dept. I would say write to them as funnily enough to lodge a complaint via telephone you have to use the "helpline" number. HM Revenue & Customs: How to complain to the Child Benefit Office
