Hi all, having bought my EGT and boost gauges, I was trying to get to the exhaust dump pipe today, in order to fit the probe fitting. I removed all the bolts of the turbo heat shield, but there was no way I could get the shield out. I had removed the intercooler and all its pipes as well as the pipes leading to the catch can to make access easier. There must be some trick to it. Can anybody ...

Hey guys quick question for ya. After wheeling a few weekends back I noticed an annoying "rattle" coming from the rear of Rubi. After getting it home and cleaned up I noticed that the Heat Shield mounting hole corroded and broke. Now it just bounces and vibrates on the of the muffler. Instead of fixing it I would like to just remove the dam thing. It's just going to happen again most ...

Heat Shield; something to look out for: Closed the boot yesterday morning and heard a loud rattle, checked around and underneath to find the exhaust heat shield, approximately half way along the car, had fallen on to the exhaust. On closer inspection found that the aluminium heat shield had rotted through in way of three of the four fixing bolts; it looked as though there was ...

I'm looking into doing something like this: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zer...age=2 (look further down the 1st page and about half way down the 2nd) But I'd like a heat shield to go with it. I came across this, and though it sounds stupid, I think the result is about what I want. Anyone see any problems with it, or things I should make sure to take into consideration? http://www.nloc.net/...
