A particular metallic element, M, has a heat capacity of 0.36 J*g*K, and it forms an oxide that contains 2.90 grams of M per gram of oxygen. (a) Using the law of Dulong and Petit (Cp x M = 25 J*mol*K), estimate the molar mass of the metal M [Answer: _____ g/mol] (b) From the composition of the oxide (2.90 g M/g O) and the molar mass of oxygen (16 g/mol), determine the mass of M that combines ...

im currently running an experiment to determine the specific heats of certain materials, unforuantely the specific heats of materials actually changes with temperature. I was wondering how does specific heat change with temperature? ive looked into a few possible ideas by einstein etc when shows what the specific heats tend to when they get very low of very high etc... but what happens if i was ...

Hi, I was woindering if anyone can help me on a problem I have been stuck on for a while now. I have an equation to combine the heat capcity of oil and water, but I cant find an equation anywhere that combines the heat capacities for water oil and gas. All i have is CpL = (qo(qo+qw))Cpo+(1-(qo/(qo+qw))Cpw Does anyone know a formula for combing...

Hi, Can someone please give me some suggestions on how to use a microwave oven to determine the specific heat capacity of tap water? This is not a homework question, but an assignment and I have absolutely no idea how I can do this. This experiment will be done at home, so please no immersion heaters or anything else that won't be used at home. thanks :)
