I have a good set of electronic, muff type hearing protection that i have been using for about 10years now. They are a little bulky, but i bought them so i could hear range commands when i was taking some training classes w/handguns. They get in the way when i shoot rifles. I can make do, but am interested in getting some comments on what others use. I've considered some of the electronic type ...

I can't find any. By electronic I mean if I turn it off it blocks more than 32 nprr. My ears are crazy sensitive and I'd like this very much. Now if they weren't muffs they would be preferable but at this point for teaching I'll take either. I'd prefer electric so I can set it up. but when its off I want +32 nprr protection. none of the electronics state what protection they are when off at ...

Ok, did a search, did not find much. What kind of hearing protection do you use? Currently have a .22 pistol, a 12 guage 870 pump, and hopefully a .40 cal soon. But what hearing protection is best?

I work in a very noisy environment where I must use either ear muffs or foam inserts (in ears). The itching just outside of the ear canal is horrendous. I use Q-tips to try to "scratch" the area. This is quite maddening! Please help me!

Does anyone use those ear plugs with baffles? The ones that allow you to hear normal levels but block out blast? If so, what brand and where did you order or purchase them? Did they work for you? Not interested in the headsets for hunting. I want to hang onto what hearing I have left. Thanks.

I'm planning to buy some efficient, comfortable(not too bulky),hearing protection. I've never used the electronic muffs. Are they worth the money? I truly dislike stuffing foamy things in my ears. I would like something comfortable, not too bulky, and something that really protects my eardrums. I already have chronic tinnitus. Just don't want it to get any worse. Want to protect ...

I understand your fears big time. I have been hearing impaired since I was two. Seventh grade lost everything in the left hear. I have been wanting to shoot guns since Oct or Nov of 2008. I read the information that you posted up on the internet as well and it still freaked me out cause that still a lot of noise coming through. Well last January, coming up on my one year anniversary this week of ...

Ok, Set of MSA Sordin Supreme Pro-x's have arrived and been tested......I have to say....they are awesome, seems to be same/similar sound attentuation to gunfire as my NR33 rated Howard leightening non electronic muffs, but I can hear as well.....I can also now have some low volume music in the background as I train...fantastic!!...plus I swear if you turn up the volume you could listen to...

Does it affect one ear or both? And if only one, is it the ear you hold your cell phone against? If so, not only do they harbor staph, and not only do they trigger electromagnetic hypersensitivity syndrome, but exposure to electromanetic radiation and microwaves causes yeast and mold to grow faster. Google this for yourself.

I use MSA Sordins, fantastic ear pro, and they are low profile enough to use with rifles. Yes they are expensive, but unlike many sets of ear pro they are waterproof. My Peltor Tac6s were killed by sweat alone (hot Florida summers).

There's a lot of products on the market for just about any type of shooting. If you can afford them - the electronic ear protectors are among the best. A lot of high volume shooters use them. Here's a site for one brand: http://www.earinc.com/p1-electronic-hunting.php When I shot 7 days a week there were no such products on the market and we weren't "educated" enough back then to worry ...
