Hello all, The local store where I buy my oil now has the same everyday prices on Havoline DS, Mobil Clean 5000 & Formula Shell per case. Considering they are equal cost, which ones do you believe have the upper hand in terms of add pack, cold flow properties, TBN retention etc. I'd like to keep facts in the discussion if possible so please provide a fact/reason for the suggestion you make. I...

Was in WM today and I decided to cruise through the oil section and noticed the clearance priced $1.00 a qt. Havoline DS. Unfortunatly, it was only in the 10w-30, but they had 12+ qts. of it. Also, noticed it was dated 02/08/07. I'm sure it's a local thing, trying to get rid of their remaining Havoline stock. Just thought I'd mention it here.

I am getting irritated at the retail level difficulty of procuring Chevron-Texaco commercial passenger type lubricants (Havoline & Chevron Supreme). Granted that this board has kind words for the very common Pennzoil 'yellow bottle' and Platinum I miss Chevron products. Yes, you can buy them from a distributor. However, unless you have a fleet/commercial account (or a good relationship with them)...

Haha kestrel, I never really thought about my plate number before! On another note, I thought I should comment on the condition of the original Havoline XLC I removed. After looking at it, I agree with Tim that the Havoline coolant as used by Lotus is not the DexCool type Havoline sold here in the US. It might share the same orange color, but that is about it. The coolant that came out ...

1949 Dodge... in 1965. I used variously Pennzoil, or Havoline. Straight weights changed with the season. The latter because my neighbor's dad, who had been an auto mechanic before the war, but who THEN was an electrician at the coal mine, said of the wheel bearing grease, " That smells like that Texaco, that Marfax lubrication." So I thought I should stick with that for awhile. I miss the ...
