I had someone as an archer for most of the game and just changed her to a witch and it's pretty amazing. The status effect spells have a very high hit rate now.

Power Grinding? Never did that. I didn't think this game was too hard, it has just poor AI and poor gameplay mechanics. It tries hard to be Devil May Cry but it is not even coming close.
