Why did the US Open moved from grass to Har-Tru for 3 years before the Hardcourt Era? Why didn't they go directly to hardcourt? When did the Aussie switch from grass?

I'd pick Federer in 2006 for sure. Won: Doha, Australian Open, Indian Wells, Miami, Canada Masters, US Open, Japan Open, Madrid Masters, Basel and TMC. Total record on HC was 61-2. I'd challenge anyone to name a better HC season then that.

Well, Nadal's future hardcourt success is currently under heated discussion and it is getting a little old for me. I just want to hear your opinions on his future performance in Wimbledon. We haven't been able to see Nadal on grass this year (I mean REAL matches) and I wonder how well he can perform when he is back next year at the grass season. On one hand, we can say that the big ...

you mean so you could watch him live? I guess so, because referring to his class he shouldn't be playing any hardcourt tourneys anywhere I wonder if he will play AO, probably as there's no significant South American challengers in week 3 or 4, but it will be tough to qualify remember his match vs. Gasquet last year, he was doing better than expected

Quote: That is why I say the World Hardcourt Championship played on clay (starting in 1912) is the true precursor to the French Open. In fact tournament winners of the WHCC should be regarded as major winners in my book. After all it was regarded by the international tennis federation as a 'World Championship' (along with the World Covered Court and Wimbledon) -...
