My brother just upgraded and is going to send me his old one. Has anyone else done this? I'm guessing I won't have to pay the $99 or whatever they charge for the phone. But I'm wondering if they'll even activate it for me, if I'll still have to sign up for another 2 years, etc., etc. Anyone??

What does everyone do with the handmedowns they receive? If the person who gave it to you isn't having more children, is it still expected that you keep track of who gave you what and return it? Or is it expected that you can pass it on to the next person? Either way is fine with me, I just feel like I'm the only one who doesn't know!

A friend has a boy Jane's age and a girl Malcolm's age, so we've been swapping clothes for the kids. She gave us a ton of shoes that Malcolm can wear once he walks, but I heard it was bad to share shoes. Is this true? Is it the shape of their feet or something? you will need to get the data plan but won't need to sign a new contract. My daughter seems to keep getting herself new phones without the plan then switching out her sim card. The only time it cost us anything was when she switched from a regular phone to a blackberry, then it was just the additon of the dataplan for her.

Unless they say something, I assume they won't want it back. If you're not sure, ask. Personally, unless it's a big-ticket item, I don't want to be bothered with the hassle of hand-me downs if they're going to want them back.
