Alright, I'm about to go crazy here. I broke my driver side half shaft at the track a month or so ago and I haven't had any luck finding a factory replacement. There are many conflicting stories online about which half shafts are compatible. My buddy at the Ford dealership says they have discontinued the factory 01 half shafts, so I'm trying to find a reasonable replacement without paying 1K ...

Here's what happened: My pass side inner cv joint had play. So I ordered a used half-shaft (I thought the bearing was bad.) I got it and pulled it apart. The bearing was indeed bad, but the splines were worn on the half shaft and the pass side cv inner splines. I didn't have a pass side axle. so I changed the half-shaft and put the pass side axle back on (for two days) I drove a total ...

Since you already got it out, You'll appreciate a couple of things. When doing the inside u-joint straps, the best way to reach them is to use a bunch of extensions and reach all the way in from the outside of the wheel hub. Get to them from the top side of the shaft. It makes it easy because you can grab the hub and rotate it for each nut. Go to any Tool seller and get a ...

I have a 300d 91 which had a noisy diff. i had a diff off a 230e lying about but found the cv joints smaller and the actual shafts thinner on the 230e side. I got a 300e diff as a stop gap which fitted straight to the joints. I eventually got a 300d diff off these guys who were very efficient and resonable. I'm sure they will supply a shaft for you without shafting you.. if youll pardon the ...

Done! It's a pain in the ass, particularly unbolting the axle from the support bracket bolted to the engine block and bolting it back in. But the hardest part is just finding the correct axle. NO ONE has it. They are all 1" too short. We ended up getting an OEM axle for over $500 from an online Nissan parts dealer after giving them the VIN. The only thing I can figure is that either ...
