I want to build to build a core i7-based hackintosh. I've never built a hackintosh before, and I USED to be under the assumption that if you picked out the right parts, installation was easy. HOWEVER, after reading these forums, it seems like a major pain in the ass to setup and maintain (please correct me if I'm wrong). Anyway, here are my questions: 1) I want to use the OSX side ...

I am wondering what type of motherboard, video card, optical drive, and ram would be the most compatible and run the best with snow leopard without patches for the most part. I want to build a hackintosh running snow leopard that will rip and convert dvds fairly fast, run windows 7 in fusion quickly, and do some light video editing and word processing for school. I also want to be ...

I've never built a hackintosh before. I was under the assumption that if you pick the right parts, OSX is as easy as if it were on mac. Please correct me if I'm wrong here. Second, I need to know which parts I'm supposed to pick. Which motherboards work well for hackintoshes? Which video cards? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

I was screwing around on the newegg.com wish list feature and I found all sorts of Hackintosh builds, some of which I know will have a few problems. Newegg.com allows users to rate and comment on these wish lists. I don't work for newegg.com or anything, but, I think this could be a good forum to check out various builds, and for experienced OSX86 1337 h4x0rZ to blow down someones ...

Anyone have hackintosh experience or advice? I would like to build myself a computer - and I would like to dual boot Windows 7 and Leopard (not Snow Leopard until Guitar Pro starts working reliably on it ). Here is what I am looking at so far - I have serious questions regarding the motherboard, as it has mixed reviews on newegg. ...

With the recent update from Apple for Mac OS X 10.6.2 Snow Leopard, it prevented netbooks from running the Operating System. Users with hackintosh netbooks were advised to not update in order to continue running Snow Leopard. Thankfully a patch has now been released allowing hackintosh users to update their machines. The patch has been [...]A post from the

I've got two Powerbook G4's: A 15" 1.33 GHz, and a 17" 1.67 GHz. Is there any way that I could connect them to make a dual-core Hackintosh. Is this possible, or am I completely out of my mind!

OK, I have a Hackintosh Core 2 Quad 3.6 that runs great (it's for sale if anyone wants it cheap) and I just bought a Mac Pro 8 core 2.26 and upgraded it to dual 3.19 W5580's and put a couple of Intel 160GB G2 SSD's in it and striped them. It came with a 640GB SATA drive. Here's what I can't figure out how to accomplish: My Hackintosh has a 1TB drive in it. I stuck it in the Mac Pro...

The Vaio X, aside from being thin and light, is notoriously difficult to mod -- simply put, there's not much room in there to play around! Besides, when you've spent well over a grand for a machine, you're not necessarily going to be gung-ho about digging in with your soldering gun. Still, when InsanelyMac forum member Asama was struck by inspiration (in the form of a Vaio P OS X image) he ...

via Gizmodo Not only can this 2007 model UX490 quad-boot into OS X, Windows 7, XP Pro, and Vista Business, but its specs have been overhauled. A voice-capable HSPA modem has been added, plus a faster CPU and larger solid-state hard disk. The original 1.2GHz Core 2 Solo U2200 processor (which was soldered in place) has been swapped with a 1.33GHz Core 2 Duo overclocked to 1....

I got my hands on a Dell Mini-9 which somebody has installed Mac OS X on. I already have a MacBook Air here, so I don't really need a Mac OS X "netbook" with a teensy cramped screen, keyboard and trackpad. What I'd like to do is switch the Mini-9 back to Linux or some other funky OS like Haiku or Syllable, just so I can experiment with them. Problem being. . . I can't figure out how to make...

So I have had a pc sitting around on my mac network for quite some time now. I was wondering that if I got snow leopard on it, would I be able to use the bootcamp utility to install windows 7 or is it more of a hassle than just doing that?
