I know there have been many questions on this topic but I'd like to clarify: If I shoot in HDV with a Canon HV40 can I burn that format on a DVD-R? When exporting from FCP, must I convert using QT Conversion or Compressor? If I must convert, will the quality remain higher than DV? Mac Pro4,1, MacBook ...

Trying to capture 1080i60 HDV from a Sony deck, but its crashing on me every time I capture as soon as I hit OK. Capture Now seems to work, but I can't log my I/O and use Capture Clip. I've been doing this almost daily with no problem until this week. Might have updated the system recently, but are there any known issues? Saw a couple references to similar problems after searching, ...

We shot a 9 camera P2 card concert video. I am using FCPro Studio on a MacBook Pro 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 8 GB DDR3. I created a multi-cam edit by off-lining the video . We originally shot at 1440x1080 29.97, HDV 1080p30. I had to low res the video to get all nine cameras to sync. I cut the video and have a music mix. How do I export the multi-cam edit to reflect my cut and return ...

I have tried several ways to be able to make a sd dvd. My assets are a 13 min video, shot and edited in pal HDV 720p50. I would like this to be put on a SD dvd in standard pal 720x576 interlaced, but in all my efforts the end result looks like 25p instead of 25i. Looks awful. Do anyone have a solution on this problem? Jan...

Hi Guys RE: Motion 3, HDV 50i, standard ProRes 422, optical flow I'm trying to decide which combination of settings I should choose in order to ensure the highest possible standard of optical flow-treated video for a video clip which just features live people - no graphics. So far my results haven't been as 'smooth' as I would have liked. Below I have detailed my steps taken -...

Just need a bit of understanding. When I send a project to tape (HDV), Vegas will render the project first then start the deck in the record mode and start recording to tape? Still a rookie. Thanks. Ken Bennett Video Adventures Capturing Your Life's Adventures!

Hello, We are currently working on a HDV project and we have captured the foottage directly in FCP and finished the editing and the sound on logic. At first this project was going to stay in the usual HDV work flow for an SD DVD distribution. The final result of the product is better than expected (artistically) and we now need to make basic blueray HD DVDs. In order to get the ...

Hi and thanks to all the experts who are so helpful. I am using FCP 6 on a Mac Pro Quad core intel, and am working on a project in HDV. The deck I'm using is SONY HVR 10MU. I have the setup at HDV and captured the footage in HDV. Several issues (as you may expect) The audio monitor in the capture window did not show any audi, however it was captured ok. Is that normal? ...

I am recording HDV with a Sony V1U, when I upload the footage and I see the plain video in the monitor it looks like HD, you can see the pixels and the quality of the video, however when I add color correction I notice that pristine quality of HD where you can see every detail is lost, the video starts to look like plain DV shot on widescreen... is this common for others? or is it my ...

Hi and kudos to all the great minds on this forum, you all rock! Here is a little conundrum I'm in in terms of deciding the workflow of a big project. Everything is shot in HDV and has been captured in HDV. The project will ultimately end on a SD DVD. We are making a master file in DVDSP for the duplicator. There will be SD footage intercut with the HDV footage, and there will be ...

I do not have a HDV deck or camera that takes large tapes have a dsr11 dvcam deck but don't want to downrez to dv widescreen. As there are USB flash drives available at 32, and 64 gigs and cheap external hard drives, I wonder if anyone is delivering tapeless. would I just render the mt2 project, Everything shot HDV 1080i on a sony A1U camera, as one file and drag over to a drive...

I wonder if someone could explain the following for me? I'm editing ProRes HD in a 1920 x 1080 timeline. But when I import some legacy HDV material it scales the 1440 x 1080 footage horizontally by 33% which is fine, but the motion tab also says the image is scaled up by 133% ? It looks fine, but if I remove the 133% scaling (leaving aspect ratio at -33.33) the HDV material is...

Hi all After months of working on SD- and HD-projects I ran into a problem when a client came with a HDV-tape. I hooked up the camcorder (SONY HDR HC-7) via firewire but simply could not get it running. My device manager tells me the drivers are not installed. OS is Win XP SP3, so according to Microsoft the drivers should be there. Live capturing doesn't work either... Any idea? ...

The timeline contains m2t clips which are rendered using mainconpect down to WSDV ready for import in DVDArchitect. Playing the resultant mpeg shows pixilation were the action is fast. (eg flapping butterfly wing)s. This file is not of a sufficient quality from which to make a DVD. The same shots taken in SD, imported as an .avi and prepared for DV via mainconcept are OK (no pixilation)....

Hi everyone, I have several weddings shot, captured and edited in HDV 1080i 25fps. Curently compressed to SD and burnt to SD DVD for clients play back. The point of this thread is simply "What 'exact' transcode settings using Encore CS4 will work for building a high quality Blu-Ray image, that can be perfectly burnt onto a BD Disc, when i decide to offer it to my clients". Average ...

ACVHD help Been asked to do some work, but the equipment I am assigned to is all by hard drive in HD. I can't seem to locate the files in HD. I much prefer HDV because the tapes are already your backups, but this ACVHD is such a flipping fiddle. I'm not 100% certain, but the equipment may not be compatible with Premeire CS3...
