Hi folks. I'm trying to find out which of the Sony STR series receivers will support passing audio through hdmi to the receiver's speakers. I almost bought the STR DG520 but then read on Amazon people saying that they couldn't pass audio through the receivers speakers but only to the TV via HDMI. What's the point of having HDMI on your receiver if you can't get the HD audio to come out of it?...

I intend to get the MSI 785GT-E63 to setup a HTPC. Just wondering should I rely on the HDMI connection to deliver my audio or should I connect the optical SPDIF output to my AV receiver for my audio? Which method would produce the best audio output? What happens if I connect both to my AV Receiver? Any form of assistance is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I own a Radeon HD4650 graphics card with 2 DVI ports and an on-board HDMI audio device. Unfortunately, this card did not come with a DVI-to-HDMI adapter, and I now understand that I will need a special DVI-to-HDMI adapter if I want to receive the HDMI audio signal. Does anyone know if this DVI "specialness" is proprietary to ATI, please? What are the distinguishing characteristic of ...

I picked up couple of 7000 series samsung LEDs and finally had Time Warner come out to hook up HD cable boxes. The cable guy didn't have any HDMI cables so he hooked it up with component cables. However, after the cable box is plugged in, it leaves no ports for the DVD player (go figure). The cable guy told me to buy HDMI cables, but am unsure of how much to spend and exactly what I ...

I just got my first HD TV and I am very excited. It is a Samsung LCD 40 inch and I really like it. I was fooling around with it when I discovered that when I am using the HDMI mode the Closed caption does not work. Does anybody know a fix for this? How come it does not work in this mode?

I can't help but notice that my new mac mini with Snow Leopard pre-installed is very slow on startup when connected to a TV via HDMI using the DVI connector that comes with the mini plus a DVI to HDMI cable. It seems to take forever to get past the blue screen (I imagine it's getting the TV display info etc.) when compared to the older minis connected via S-Video. Is there any way to speed up the...

I've used my HDMI connection regularly for 3 weeks. Today when I plugged the cable in to watch the web on my TV, explorer.exe froze up. I ended up restarting the computer. When the OS came back online, the video for the HDMI came in correctly, but the Audio doesn't show up even show up as an option for a playback device. This is very frustrating. 1 person needs an answer I do too

I honestly have no clue what I'm doing with this stuff but I sure as heck don't want to spend 60 bucks or more on a cable. Newegg.com - hdmi cable 1080p I found this on Newegg for 10 bucks.
