Laura: There are some wonderful examples of great Pinot Grigio coming from the Alto Adige where is seems that altitude is proportionate to quality. With your interest in high altitude plantings have you experimented with PG and if so will we see it commercially?

I've had inexpensive Pinot Grigio in the past, and never thought too much about them until ... A recent dinner where we made Orange Roughy Amandine accompanied with white/wild rice, salad and biscuits. The wine: Avantgarde Pinot Grigio 2005 Rheinhessen from Germany. Alc. 12.5% I don't have any eloquent tasting notes, but the wine was superb with the fish, and I'll have to try more Pinot ...

DOC Friuli Grave Medium yellow, with green tints, in the glass. Citrus and spicy on the nose. Medium weight, rich pear, a hint of orange, some mild bitterness, very creamy, good weight in the mouth, spicy, refreshing. Tangy with a light bitter streak on the finish. I do love the mix of decadent richness and refreshment one can get from PG, and, usually, at a pretty decent price. ...

It is expected to reduce the number of trips older people have to make to the bathroom during the night. The new wine will be marketed as...

I have come across several canning recipes that call for a cup or so of "dry white wine", lately one for pickled garlic. What do you use? Chablis, vermouth, sauvignon blanc, or perhaps pinot grigio? But not chardonnay surely (too oakey). Thanks y'all Nancy

Hi John, I don't know a lot about the Pinot Griggio from the Alto Adige. The pinot griggio that is planted in Argentina is generally at between 2600 and 2800 feet elevation in the warmer Eastern area. It does make a really nice, crisp refreshing white there. I believe the alto adige is a lot cooler, more similar than high altitude mendoza perhaps. yes, it would probably do well, but we ...
