Just had kitchen remodel and installed a granite counter top called Solaris. When I went to pick out the granite, it looked perfect, but when they installed it,it looks like they filled places in with some kind of filler, so when you look at it, doesn't look smooth, and there is even a crack in it where they cut out the sink. The installer is suppose to be here next week. Any granite experts out ...

Hi everyone, This is my first post here. I was making pizzas in my home oven with 3/4' granite for a few months now and it came out great. But kitchen was tied up to long and wife was not too happy. So I built a pizza (contraption) oven and can get it up to 850 degrees Fahrenheit. My problem is I cant get the dough right now. It does not brown good at all. And the cheese gets burnt ...

For reasons I won't go into, I'm considering using granite tile on my countertops/island. Has anyone used them, and what's your opinion, positive or negative. And if you have pictures, please show them. Thanks

I had not thought much about the placement of the faucet until today when they were installing my granite (and I thought I had read *everything* on this site). I had just gotten out of the shower, wet hair and all and my contractor knocked on my door to ask me if I wanted everything to the right of the faucet. By everything I mean the faucet handle (I have the Leland faucet by Delta) and the hot...

A friend of mine, gave me a granite countertop for a bathroom vanity, with the sink hole already cut out, and a ceramic bowl to undermount. Unfortunately he doesn't know how to attach the 2 together, and neither do I, can anyone help. The big box stores are telling me to use clamps, but there is no where to put them. I have read on the internet, that there is an epoxy I can use to attach them,...

My white kitchen cabinets are 10 years old and in good shape, I am changing the countertop to granite. Because the laminated cabinets are 10 years ago and plain, I never really considered expensive granite and have chosen Giallo Rio(sort of like Santa Cecillia, but lighter). Today I was at the fabricator's place to map out the counter top layout, I looked at a slab of Giallo Ornemantal and ...

Well my girlfriend got her G completely repainted, it's the Lexus Smoky Granite Mica color, one of my personal faves; talked her out of doing Starfire Pearl. Just some new additions on her 05 6MT, she had the tails painted GT-R style, I got her a Gialla grille(emblem wasn't actually placed in the grill yet, I just put it on for picture purposes and took it off..but will eventually be on), 06 ...

Hey guys. I have a 6 by 6 ft. slab of 3 cm thick granite ( the thicker of the two). I was wondering what would be the average cost for installing it. Specs: 18 sq. ft, 20 inch X 20 inch top mount sink. Would need the slab cut to size and the edges beveled. It will be in 2 pieces with a seam down the middle. (Countertop is 2x9 ft). I called one local installer and was quoted $20 per sq. ft. ...

Hi All, My wife and I are debating whether to go with a solid surface countertop (that's Dupont Corian, Samsung Staron, etc.), or a granite or quartz (e.g., Silestone). Solid Surface would be a *little* cheaper, but the pricing is close enough that we want to go with whichever would be a wiser choice for us. At this moment we're leaning towards a solid surface because we've heard ...

Hi Has anyone uses a slab of granite for the floor of their oven? I was thinking of laying common red bricks ontop of my concrete hearth with a layer of sand then the grannite slap on top. Fire Bricks are NZD$6.50 each over here and I have a piece of grannite big enough to cover the floor of the oven. I picked up about 60 second hand fire bricks for NZD$3.00 ea (Not enough). Has anyone made ...

We are installing Pegasus granite counters from Home Depot in a rental home we own. I have these counters at home and only clean them with dish soap and water. They clean up nicely. I am concerned about the rental home because we have various cleaning people (usually not the same person) come in every time someone leaves. I'd like to give them instructions on cleaning the counters but I ...

I fear I don't remember where I got this photo from - could of been here - or a granite site someplace. But the granite was not identified. Does anybody know what it is?

My fabricator told me that the pencil edge is slightly rounded just at the very top and that it has a 90 degree straight drop to the bottom of the granite. Please see the posting by hrega titled "About to be templated and I still can't make edge choice" on Oct 8, 09 at 15:21. hrega included profiles of edges from Stone Trends, LLC. (I have to promise myself to learn how to link, but thankful...

I'm looking for recommendations for good granite fabricator/installers in the Boulder/Denver metro area (we're north of Boulder). One general contractor that we're talking to is suggesting MS Stone Products, but he's open to others as well. We're looking for a high-quality, low hassle fabricator. Kevin, do you have any of your star pupils in this area? Here is a link that might be ...

Granite tile counters Howdy all. I'm new here as a member. I have been reading threads throughout the forum for a few months. I am glad that I stumbled upon this site. There's lots of good information here. I have a few questions regarding my kitchen/baths renovation. My lady and I have selected 12X12x3/8 granite tiles to ...
