Can anyone clarify if there has been an actual part improvement to the 48RE govenor solenoid? I have read the TSB, my truck has had the 1-2 shift jumping problem since day one, dealer replaced the parts under the TSB, not once, but twice, before it went out of warranty. Hello all, I'm the new owner of Ganpa's old Benz It's an '81 300 SD it sat for at least 5 years getting started once and a while when it rained so he could back it out of the garage and "God could wash it" it has about 425000 km, I have put 10000 on it. It used to hammer through the gears, even chirping the tires at full throttle, gramps said it did that scince day one, and I've read thats ...

The screens you are talking about are likely the ones in the valve body. If you don't mind lying on your back to drop the pan and the valve body without losing any of the checkballs, that will be a start. From there, you can clean the valve body with a couple cans of parts cleaner. If it works, you got away cheap. If it doesn't, you still got away cheap.................................unless you ...
