Has anyone interviewed at Compass recently? I'm wondering if the gouge is still similar to some of the more dated ones that are out there. Thank you in advance for the help!

Confession time. I picked up a 1/2" #3 Carving gouge last week to use to remove the small tenon section on bowls. It works better than a straight chisel with the slight curve to the edge. I am still on the learning curve in how to use it safely, after spending a couple of hours in the emergency care getting stiches to take care of a jab today. It was my first trip in several years and ...

Can any one think of a reason to have a 1/2" spindle gouge if you already have a detail gouge? Spindle turning of course. there are a lot of spindle gouge types out there. Standard spindle, detail, shallow detail, etc. Thanks in advance.

So I recently bought a Raleigh R700 on eBay. The seller listed the item as Used in Great Condition, comes with Speedplay X-2 pedals (along with the rest of the specs on the bike). However when I received the bike and inspected it, there was a LARGE gouge in the frame. Here it is: So I contacted the seller and asked what he/she is ...
Face it......Doubling utility bills based upon a myth is never going to fly with the people who are going to be paying them. Quote: Senate Democratic leaders said Tuesday they would put off debate on a big climate-change bill until spring, in a sign of weakening political will to tackle a long-term environmental issue at a time of high unemployment and economic uncertainty. ...

The Bednarik trophy and various other awards. I am wondering since the whole incident was so overblown and all over the media, will it eventually cost Spikes various awards. It seems like the races will be tight as there are some decent candidates, and I wonder if this will bias voters against him. Hopefully it won't, but you never know. What are your thoughts, guys and gals?

Well I needed to rough out this blank I had cut out of my fallen white oak. It had three knots and 2 coats of anchor seal on it but started checking quite a bit anyway. It gave me fits to say the least. I think it took me about 3 hours to rough out. So now I am curious. What would an experienced bowl turner have used on this one? It has about a 10" dia. and is 7" tall. It is currently soaking in ...

...that won't make me wanna gouge out my eyes with a plastic spoon after listening for the umpteenth time. Ellie has been singing Jingle Bells non-stop since Saturday when DH and I made a serious error in judgement by singing it in the car on a road trip to my parents' house. I have a few Chrsitmas CD's but they kinda suck.

I'm having a terrible time shaping the base of a wine glass. I keep getting catches whether I use a spindle gouge or spindlemaster. The pictures show the position I start the spindle gouge and near where I end. The catches occur mainly when I try to start the cut but some occur at the junction of the stem and base. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have been having some problems getting the last four(inside) or so passes on my bowls. I have been using a 1/2 bowl gouge with a 40 degree angle which works fine on all parts except the inside last 1/4 part towards the center. I have been wondering if I get another bowl gouge and grind it to 55 degrees or so whether this would help. I don't have a scraper yet so this may also help I'm ...
