I read on the WEB of some individuals on very low carb diets who experience an increase in fasting blood glucose. They often go from a normal 85 to around 100 FBG. Could anyone comment on the cause of this or perhaps link to some explanation for this problem. Thanks for your help.

If anyone is interested in self testing their glucose levels (GD or not) I found a listing for a Nova max test kit (everything included) for 2.99 plus shipping on the amazon market place. The catch is that the strips included expire in March...which isn't a problem for us ladies due in January! It can normally retail between 40 and 80 bucks. They have other kits for a bit more. http://...

took the 1-hr glucose test today. Do you think that if I still felt good +++ a couple hours after drinking the stuff (and not eating) that's a sign I'm going to pass the test?

I've noticed over a long time and also in real life that the term blood 'sugar' makes people very confused. So many people seem to think that we have to eat sugar for our 'blood sugar' to stay right. So my request is to please explain glucose--what it IS and what it does in the body and what foods we need to produce it. It just astounds me sometimes the continuing myth that we HAVE to ...

Adin had a rebound. I just checked him and I know it is a definite rebound. His Lantus shot was late as well. I went ahead and gave the Lantus shot should I give him a glucose boost to restore his liver? *I went ahead and gave him a shot glass full of milk and a tiny bit of chocolate syrup.*

I just took my 3rd and final glucose test, assuming I will pass it for the 3rd time. The lab was insane and their computers crashed while I was there. I went back at the 1 hr. mark (actually with a few minutes to spare) and got in line. The receptionist told me to tell them that I was taking a timed test and to put me ahead of the other people waiting. Well, there were about 10 people and...

Hi Ladies tomorrow I go in early for my GD 1 hr test and so many ppl have failed in the January board that I am emotionally prepared to fail. I had my glucose test in the 1T and it was 76 but not sure how the glucola test differs from the regular Glucose testing we do in our annual check up. Regardless I am trying to stay positive that GD will not be something we will have to deal with. I am...

I have to get bloodwork done tomorrow morning and am wondering if having taking glucose tablets will interfere with the fasting itself. I'm worried that if I wake up low I won't be able to do the bloodwork.

Greetings! I am conducting research to learn about how people with diabetes, and their doctor and health care team, view the glucose meters that are given to them from their doctors. It is important to understand the variables that lead to patient’s trust or distrust of health care providers and blood glucose meters. Trust leads to patients’ compliance of physician orders, adherence to the use of...

The past few days my glucose has been out of control-I'd forgotten how miserable one can become. If this continues another day, I'll call the doctor. (That I'm not looking forward to.) I'll eat 35 grams of carbs and have a blood glucose reading of 200 after my insulin and 2 1/2 hours! A teaspoon of peanut butter for lunch has my head hurting for the next four hours. What do you do ...
