This is hard to type, as my right hand is "out of order" from pain. I live in the USA and see a geneticist for the 1st time in 4 days. Yay! I don't know what to expect. I have information ready for her, including the family pictures the pre-appointment letter asked for. I've typed out my symptoms, my full family history, my meds, and my other disorders. Anything else that I should bring to ...

autismdiva.blogspot.com/2005/11/aut... This is a blog entry which also contains an article. The article says every child with autism should see a geneticist. The article also talks about all the testing that a child with autism should receive. We received none of these tests. I wonder how far insurance would go as far as helping to pay for these. Any thoughts? Anybody been through all...

( The first thing you need to do is meet with a geneticist, who will be able to test you and see if you have the gene mutation which increases your chances of developing a cancer. I doubt very much that you would find a surgeon at the moment, who would undertake mastectomies without more information. If you have a gene misprint, then having this firmly diagnosed would help your case. If you ...

Does anyone have EDS and OI or an overlap? I recently found the records of my follow-up visit to my geneticist and it says "multiple fractures and bluish sclerae concerning for an overlapping phenotype of osteogenesis imperfecta". Before I went to the EDS clinic my family doctor brought up OI, but my rhemy disagreed. I was supposed to have a DXA scan, but on the day it was scheduled I had car ...

I've long suspected that I had EDS but it was something else to have it confirmed so easily. After the first geneticist I saw turned me away, saying I wasn't very hypermobile, the geneticist I saw last week noted my Beighton Score to be 7/9. Can there really be so much difference between two doctors specializing in the same thing? I'm fair sure I didn't magically become more mobile than I was a ...

In Candido Godoi rumours about tests on villagers by Nazi geneticist Mengele vie with theories about water supply Staring out over the rolling pastures of Brazil's deep south, 65-year-old twin Cecilia Kunkel placed the blame squarely with her parents. "It's hereditary, isn't it," she said. "It's like an illness." Across the valley, on the porch of his wooden farmhouse, Jose Ignacio ...

My son has not been diagnosed on the spectrum, but there is lots of people feeling he should be. We go to his geneticist on Monday for his follow-up (he has Klinefelter's Syndrome which is having an extra 'X' chromosome). I am hoping she might have some mroe insight for us. He has been getting therapy from EI since he was 9 months old. Now for my question & vent.... Have you ...

Our ped is a developmental ped and he has not said anything, but we just switched to him so he has only seen Ryder twice now and both for well-child visits. At our appointment on Monday with the geneticist I am going to talk to her about going to see a neurologist or another developmental ped. He did see one at about 14 months who felt he was borderline, but wanted to just watch him because he...

Sounds like you're in order! I brought a list of my symptoms and my family history with me which my doctor really appreciated. I got a diagnosis of EDS that day but was not typed (it's a long story...)

Bob, the industry may very well try to make them other than what they are. It is we the people who pay them handsomely to do so. Perhaps when we take a stand and don't permit our children to participate outside organized sports, and we stop supporting it by watching and buying the products that pay the bills there will be a healthy change in sports. As it now stands it is all about money ...

Tad The entire entertainment industry, including sports, movies, music and the like are in fact built on adulation by the masses. Call them role models or not, the industry makes them thus. I am with you on this. Pretty much all the way. Bob msg 95020
