Most of the gantry style cranes that I have seen are monstrosities. Has anyone every built/bought a more manageable size that can be kept in a normal size 2 car garage or easily taken apart to store. yes, this is essentially a CT-gantry... of the 3rd generation... both the x-ray source and the detector are spinning about the patient... the x-ray beam is emitted from the source to the detector plate... because both spin the beam always hits the detector... here's 3rd generation CT spinning up to max speed... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CWpZKuy-NE the detector in this video is not a flat ...

Mods feel free to move to Infrastructure if necessary. Is it just me or have they erected the over head Gantry signs on M50 without being lit at nightime. I was travelling last night and noticed none of them are flood lit. I have travelled a fair bit on Motorways in UK and especially on M25 London Orbital which is about 117 miles in total, all the overhead Gantret signs at floodlit...

Just Curious if this configuration will cause any Issues. Essentially the work piece will move in the x axis and the Gantry will move the yz axis. Not sure what if any issues this will cause.

Finally got around to show some pics. of my track i finished. I still need to put some turn borders and some lexan around the corners. Got the table and timing gantry design from hoslotcarracing website. It's a 4X12 layout with the longest lane just under 50ft. All the wiring is under the table and is battery powered. No plans on landscaping as of now.

I've successfully installed EMC and have it running despite a severe latency problem (~900000). Gold....good post. Yes it bothered me that IMMG brings essentially a floor model to the shows. Its not functioning unit so is is just for display?
