I will be getting a GWP in mid-December. This is my first pointer and I am very excited. My question is what should I work with during the winter months? My intention is to get a male pup, but the litter had 7 females and 2 males and I have the second pick of the litter with the first pick being a male.I told the breeder I wanted to make sure that the last male is not the most passive, or the ...

I went to South Dakota on the opener and had a fun time with my 6 month gwp. But he had so many pickers in bottom beard, i had to literally cut them out. Now about a month later, he still looks funny. how long will it take to grow back?

Just returned from two weekends in s/w Kansas.hunting alone with my young GWP(2 1/2) he must have put up 30 or 40 roosters which were out of gun range. we did manage a half dozen on close flushes or points. My question is, is it a good idea to whoa the dog when he starts getting birdy? depending on the cover. on row crops he will follow the bird until out of range. We hunted mostly overgrown ...

I currently have a 1 year old GWP that I love. She does great despite her owner/trainer's faults. She is not a big running dog but for the habitat I hunt it is still out there. If I work hard I can keep her within 100 yards but if not she is out to 200 plus. I know this is what most people like but I would like a closer working pointing bread. I mainly hunt pheasant and partridge but do get ...

I have been hunting my 14 month old GWP mainly on pheasants during hunting season here in Canada. We have not trained with a launcher or live birds before and this is our first season. I have not used a cc. Two issues. 1. My dog will be hunting well but there are a ton of deer in the area. I can tell when suddenly she changes her hunting style and starts running deer paths a hundred miles an ...

When did your dogs grow there beards? I bought a dd about 9 weeks ago now and she is 17 weeks old and no signs of a beard yet. My brother bought a dog out of the same litter and his is already getting his beard. I think that I might end up with a slick faced wirehair. Her wire coat is strarting to come in by her tail on her back, I think that she will have a short, hard, flat coat, that is ...

with in picking a pup some go for getting the most bold pup in the litter. but you cant tell what kinda dog your going to end up with when picking a pup so the best thing to do is if you want the male then get that him. but if you change your mind then get the one that you like the most. may it be the looks or what ever it is. and one head start you can do is start getting your pigeons before you...
