This is 10/10 condition Laptop still has every piece of plastic on the computer Have original box and paper bought from best buy along with the original receipt. Has anyone successfully installed Ubuntu on an ASUS G72 and gotten everything to work? I am thinking of switching over, my only concern is getting things like the camera to work and the function keys. The other issue is playing games, but I could always just dual boot to play games.

I recently purchased a asus g72 laptop for 1,149 at the store, but the next day i realized that online they had the same computer but with a better processor for 150 more. If i had known that was available I would have gladly paid the extra 150 for that. But now i dont know if I would be able to take the one I bought back and just purchase the better model without having to pay the restocking ...

ok every time I plug my laptop, Asus G72 to my Sony W4100 Bravia it goes in PC mode and I cant enable features like 120hz? how do I get it out of pc mode, no setting on the tv is available while plugged in? . When you play a 1080p movie it gets out of it while its running but anything lower then that 720p does nothing, and i cant have it done permanently.

yes. BlueRay is good. But I dont think I need it.. So it shouldnt be a factor.. But rather a bonus :P my biggest consern with the G51 is the BSoD, and the heat. With the G72 I can OC a bit too, both CPU and GPU, so performance should be better. Also more Ram, but lower speed. More HDD, and bigger screen..

fgocards wrote : Well, first off, I've had both companies. Asus laptops get warm, but they don't overheat and shutdown, and do not cause damage to your systems hardware. They are well build, and like their modao, rock solid. With my experience, Gateways are well built, yes. I have a desktop from them that I've had since 06 with no problems what so ever. But, after your 1 year warrenty is up, ...

New laptop choices: Gateway - FX Edition Laptop and Toshiba - Qosmio Laptop with Intel® Core™ i7 Processor (although this comes with the GTS 250m and not the 260m like the other two). These come with 4Gb DDR3 instead of the 6GB DDR2 of the Asus G72. So, out of these 3, what do you guys think? I hear that Asus laptops overheat like hell (I'm currently using one so can feel it right now...) ...

OK after reading through your 1st post thoroughly here is my conclusion: Forget about the HP with the 4650. The only diff between the G72 and the G71 is that the G72 has a higher screen res, (i dont know if it matters to you but i like gaming at higher res so it matters to me!) The GTX260M is just a renamed 9800M! It doesn't have the gt200 core but a ...

Okay, thanks for your help. I've narrowed it to the FX, and the Asus G72 you posted. I like how it has the blueray player! It'll take some more time to decide.. I'm not good with spending large amounts of money. You should of seen me buy my first car! :)

I would pick up that Asus G72 with the Quad core just like that... But my thinking is; isn't an i7 very crutial to gaming? I mean my theory is if I get the quad running at 2.0 ghz, it will be slower than the 1.6 ghz i7 by quite a bit.. If this wasn't the case, then I would snatch up that Asus right away. Also, the Asus on the 17" has DDR2 memory at 800mhz.. I'd rather have DDR3, but how ...
