If one's trying to be as fuel efficient as possible, then it would be safe to assume that the rpms should be kept low...but HOW LOW? If the rpms are at the point where it's moving ridiculously slow while WOT then am I actually using MORE gas & is it being put to waste?

For those who use your e30 as a daily driver, are there specific things you've done to maximize fuel efficiency? It's not my number one concern, but one of the reasons I wanted an e30 for a dd is because it's easy to work on (relatively), fun to drive, and not a total gas-hog. I'm doing my best to maximize every part of that equation.

What you need to know is the power band of your motorcycle. To be specific, At what rpm is acceleration most efficient without stressing the engine. It's called the sweet spot. With my cbr 125, it most efficient at 7 to 9000 rpm. but then again, keeping up with traffic is a priority so it's WOT for me all the time. May i suggest you pick up a 125? i guarantee it's the most fun you can have ...

That's combined. There's probably different offsets to translate the NEDC urban/extra-urban numbers into EPA city/highway and I don't remember what they are. Maybe knock off a few more mpg to meet EPA emissions regulations. Still, that's impressive performance IMO.
