I've become a bit of a mpg anorak since 7yo's school move has meant more driving every day. However my brain hasn't got to grips with litres per 100km. Is there an easy way to think back to mpg? Once I've done that a few times (ok a few hundreds of times) I'l start to think in litres/100km but for now I need a quick ready reckoner. nb by driving more sensibly, I've dropped from ...

So today I had to tow my small trailer loaded down with 302 engine, full tool chest, etc and before doing that I had to drive spiritedly (without the trailer) to make up time as I had some clients waiting for me. I know I am not going to get my normal 14.7 mpg on this tankful So what's the worst mpg you've seen in your car, stock?

I am trying to figue out what kind of fuel consumption our 1977 Chevy runs plowing, as so i can add up the fuel expense and usage for this lot to figure out our per push profit. even if not an exact equasion, but im thinking about 7MPG? would that be fairly close, assume about 2" of "normal" snow? ...

Gosh, let me think for a minute. 99 Miata, runs really good, fun to drive, I would say that I get as many miles per gallon that I need and/or deserve. People always ask or say what good gas mileage the car must get. I really don't have answer other than "who cares?" I just drive the thing every chance I get, and don't worry about it because it's a sports car.

I'd expect you should be achieving anywhere between 28 and 34 mpg. They're fairly efficient engines but then again, it's powering a block of metal with very little aerodynamics. As suggested, enjoy it and don't worry. Try halving your fill up with straight veg oil off the shelves from asda / morrisons it's only 85p a litre. The tank in mine is 55 litres I think??
