I too am a hardcore science fiction fan and Im afraid I have to disagree this film is far more science fiction then fantasy. For example, 2001: A Space Odyssey is hard science fiction, Star Wars is Sci-fi/Fantsay, and Lord of the Rings is pure fantasy.
