how does bb.com feel about using band with your free weights? example: attach giant rubber bands to a bar or dumbbell, and then anchor the bands to the base of a power rack or a pair of heavy dumbbells.

Hi, I'm currently trying the stronglifts.com 5x5 program (weight lifting/strength training) and training at Killamarsh gym. Which is a bit small and ill-equipped for the program. I need somewhere with a power cage, olympic bar-bells and plenty of free weights that isn't over contended for use. Also need somewhere that's open reasonably late (generally at the gym for an hour ...

At my new gym it is quite busy alot of the time and bench's are not always free when I need them. Are machines just as useful? I've not touched a machine for quite awhile so just want to ask the question on peoples views of them really. Obviously I use free weights for exercises where I can stand etc. But I don't have time to wait around for bench's or stop a exercise mid set to grab a free ...

After 7 months from my rotator cuff surgery I want to start using free weights. Has anyone had experience with this and what size and frequency did you start out at. I have healed and have full range of motion with a small amount of pain on occasion.. Any input will be appreciated.

To start, I had limited to no knowledge about weight training. My wife bought the bowflex for us to start “weight training”. When we both started using the bowflex, we both thought it was a great machine. Not knowing any different, we followed the routines in the book that was provided. The routines was more of a circuit training which consisted of about 8-10 exercises with 1-2 sets at 8-...

I have a nice weight bench along with all of the weights that I am giving away for free. Bought them for my husband last year and we no longer have room for them in our garage. They have been in the rain for the last day, but no damage or rust spots...still in very nice condition. Nothing broken, all the pieces there! Also, I have a vaccum, clothes, kitchen stuff etc. I need this all...

I need surgery on at least one (if not both). Please be honest - how bad was the recovery? SweetNothins, I hope you get the help you need from the surgery. Use a shoulder specialist and you will get the best help. Good luck.

I find machines are only good for isolation exercises such as flys (already mentioned), bicep curls, triceps, leg extensions, hamstring curls, ect.. This is because they have even difficulty through the range of motion. They are not so good for compound movements. I find that if I use them too much my form begins to suffer on free weights. I think it is OK to use them if you cannot get a ...
