My heat in my 97 Ranger went out a few months ago. I've checked all of the obvious problems that i know how to i.e. thermostat and heater core. The supply and return lines to the heater core both get hot when the thermostat opens up so i have to figure that its working okay. I've read about a lot of problems with the blend door in this truck but they always have problems with having constant heat...

Will not heat up blows cold air until I drive it or rev it up,if i go down to an idle it gets cold and blows cold air,i replaced the thermostat and the heater control valve.still stumped.

How many have you had? Did you like it? I've had several and my current one has the 2.3 OHC engine with a 5 speed manual. It's a dog on the highway but is super reliable. Fuel mileage is consistently in the mid to upper 20's. Has 125,000 miles on it now with motorcraft oil and filter's. I drive it a lot more than my 2003 Silverado, and prefer it overall. I hope Ford doesn't pull the plug on it.
