Hey all, Just a quick question.  I am looking to get a little more heat out of my Waterford 104.  It’s a smaller stove, but I only really need to heat like 2/3 of a 1,400 sf Ranch.  I was looking into buying a VOGELZANG 6” HEAT RECLAIMER ( http://www.vogelzang.com/browse.cfm/heat-reclaimer s/6-heat-reclaimer-/4,50.html ).  Does anyone have any experience with these flue reclaimers?  Are ...

Is that the going rate? I’m thinking that I may just “Man Up” and climb the roof and do it myself for a fraction of the cost.

Hello, British Gas installed our new boiler. After stormy weather it became apparent that water gets into the flue pipe. It has an opening to allow air to get in. Unfortunately, it also lets in rain water, which is driven in by the wind. British Gas so far have said it is a fault with the manufacturers pipes, and that pottertons do not manufacture anything that will prevent water from ...

Over the weekend we purchased a near new US Stove pellet stove for our house.  We are planning on installing it in the basement and using an existing hole/thimble in the concrete wall for the flue pipe to exit.  The question I have is that in reading the manual it says not to have more than 180 degrees of bends in the pipe…that being said here is my dilema.  The pipe exits the stove approx 18 ...

Hi, I'm planning on installing a Morso Squirrell multi fuel stove. (5kw) I cant vent from the top straight up so I will either need to use 2 45 degree bends to connect to the flexi liner above or a t section if I rear vent it. I have read that rear venting should be a last resort. Considering that the draw on my open fire wasn't that great I want to ensure best draw I can. Would 2 45 ...

Inspection this morning. A wood stove located basement is connected to Selkirk stainless steel metalbestos flue pipe. The flue penetrates the block foundation wall BELOW GRADE and runs vertically about 2 feet before emerging from the ground. It then runs vertically at the side of the home with normal above roof termination. Does anyone here know of flue standards that apply to this unusual ...

FWIW, the second pic is roughly what a Rocket Mass Heater stove uses.  Except it doesn’t use a metal woodstove underneath, it uses a masonry firebox to the side with unlimited air supply (ala masonry heater) and the flue exit passes through a thermal mass of some kind.  With a metal woodstove where firebox temps need to be kept under control via air restriction, both of these ideas are stupid.

If you are still thinking about getting one, also check with your insurance company to be sure you can have one.  I have the “better” magic heat version sitting in my basement.  Tried it for a few weeks and while it did really increase the heat output my flue was too cold above it and I removed it.  If I remember right it was about a 200 degree difference…
