I posted a couple weeks ago about my 98 Taurus having a rough idle and stalling when stopping in traffic and most things pointed to the Mass Air Flow Sensor so I disconnected it and it made it better, it doesnt die nearly as much but it made the idle jump back and forth more spuradically, could this be an indication that the problem is the air flow sensor or would unplugging it if it was working ...

I have a 96' Subaru Impreza Outback. The car randomly started to hesitate when I tried to accelerate. I pulled over at a gas station turned it off and tried to start it again. The car would only maintain an idle for 2 seconds and then the RPMs would slowly lessen the car would stall out. This happend continueously. I eventually had the car towed. My first thoughts were, a bad fuel pump. I ...

Yesterday I was swapping out my old intake filter that was all dirtied up and putting in a new one when I realized that my mass air flow sensor had a crack in it. I don't think its effecting anything yet but that crack could potentially worsen. Do you guys know where I can buy a stock replacement MAF?

I read the 42 page bosch tech manual on the K-jetronic CIS and it indicates that a "leaf spring ensures the correct zero position in the switched off stage". Should the air flow sensor plate rest on this leaf spring? My fuel injectors spray a fine mist when the fuel pump is operating, and the engine is not running but at rest the pate does not rest on the leaf spring. I can pull the ...
Would like some input on the symptoms of a mass air flow sensor failure. My Q45 will drive approx 10 miles or so before it will occasionally 'jerk' from apparent entire engine shutdown. Although near instaneous in length of this 'jerk' it may repeat itself in a few seconds or a few minutes- sometimes going as long as five minutes before reoccuring. Before I invest in this expensive part (the mass...

Does anyone know what kind of special tool is required to remove the MAF from the housing? I am following up on a string of MAF postings and suspect mine needs a good cleaning to sort out idle issues etc. Any help or advice? I just spent half an hour at Pep Boys with a sales guy and no luck on finding the tool that fits right. Thanks, Sean

Hi folks, I haven't posted for a while but here goes. My 02 2.0x forester has been running badly of late with the CEL on. I changed the plugs and HT leads with a bit of improvement but my starting problems are still there. The car starts perfectly from cold but a couple of hundred yards later begins to lose power and falter. When I stop to join the main road some 300yds it will stop but doesn't ...

Its just the housing that is cracked. There is a small air space between my maf and the bracket that connects to my intake filter so I have been using the factory maf screen between both parts to eliminate the air gap which has caused the maf to bend slightly after tightening the screws and it eventually started cracking. So will I be able to get a new housing at any auto parts store?

Hello Andreika, thank you very much for your answer. Friday I found online a Fiat MAF which uses the same sensor as mine (F00C2G2030) at a very good price: 62.4 Euros! I ordered it as here in Guatemala the Alfa dealer sells it for more than US $630!!! As soon as it gets here I will tell you how it works. It is supposedly an original Bosch product, here is the link in case it is useful for anyone:...

Is it hard to remove because the torx has the raised 'dot' in the middle? If so, go to AutoZone and ask for Great Neck Part Number: TQR9C. $9.99 Thats what I did. Looks like this Its a Star Torx Set. Also know as a 'Tamper Proof' Security Torx. If my memory is right, its T20 size. You have to buy the set, nearly impossible to find for sale individually. If you have a really clean, good...

Yes Like GORT said, and I said in your previous thread, check for vacuum leaks. Especially since you can HEAR a vacuum leak near the brake master cylinder, check for one in the brake booster, by blocking the hose off.
