Hello I am doing my bathroom floor but don't want to raise it too much. I plan on fitting loose wire underfloor heating and want to use some insulation board as well. My question is, can I lay one of the thicker insulation boards directly onto the joists? The floor boards are all uneven and i was originally going to replace the whole lot with 18mm ply (it's a small area). If I ...

Hi all, We have a retention being placed on our mortgage due to the concrete floors needing replaced due to sulphate attack. As such, we are considering putting under floor heating (wet) into the living room, and possibly the kitchen. Installation costs would be significantly reduced as a new floor is being poured anyway. So, is it worth it? The living room is 22sqm, currently ...

My wife and I are about half way completed with our ICF home in Southwestern PA. Here is a link so you can get an idea of what we are building. http://www.tracksidesoftware.com/dainshouse/house. htm Now for the questions. ROOF INSULATION. Since the home is made using ICF, there is no issue in insulating the walls, only the roof. The home has some 9 foot ceilings and some vaulted ceilings....

I have an hydronic radiant floor heating system in my home that pumps water through the floor in various zones of my home. Thermostats trigger relays that open up zones valves and pumps which circulate the hot water though the zone ultimately providing heat. My question relates to the relays. When they are triggered, they make a very loud "snap" sound. It's quite irritating and I'm sure ...

Hi, I'm in the process of redoing my kitchen. I'm planning on getting an electrician in shortly to sort out new sockets/isolators for all the appliances. I'm also planning on installing under tile warming which I will get the electrician to connect. Question is, can I get on and lay the insulation, cabling and tiles before I get the electrician in, then just leave him to connect...

you could use electric underfloor heating. As you are wanting to take the chill off the tiles on a cold morning its a great thing. Used with an electronic thermostat you can have it switch on at different times of the day so its warm for you when you need it. I bought mine here... http://www.totalbathrooms.co.uk/Thermonet-Basic-10 0WM Hope that helps

No, you wont be able to get the near-instant heat that you're used to with radiators from an UFH system. lasors ...

An even better solution would be a 1 mm board with the strength of 18 mm ply, insulation peoperies of 50 mm Kingspan costing 2p/m2. Anything else you would like Santa to invent for you ?
