I'm really working myself up in a tizz over my LOs head. basically he is only really comfortable looking one way for sleeping, playing etc. He is therefore starting to get a flat head on one side. he had a forceps delivery, which i think contributed to this. i've been seeing a cranial osteopath as he's got tight neck muscles. it has helped his ability to turn his head...

My ped says that his head is starting to flatten, that I should do tummy time 5-10 min 2x a day.  I finally got him to nap on his belly, but will his head reshape itself?  I'm so nervous, but he really hated it until now (and he still hates it at times). 5-10 min doesn't seem like enough to fix whats been done?  Anyone have advice or have experienced this?

My baby is 2 months and 2 weeks, at her 2 month check up her Ped said her head was flat on the right side. We will be taking her to physical therapy 2ce a month and have a packet of exercises to do with her as well as repositioning.  We are doing good with her exercises, but everytime we put her to sleep she still tilts her head to the right.  I am constantly getting up through the night ...

My son will be 3 months old next week and I think he's developing a flat spot on the back of his head. I feel so guilty about it but I'm not sure what I can do to help it/prevent it. I have him do tummy time for a bit each day (which he hates). I wear him in the ergo for a couple hours a day, a couple of days a week. When he's awake, for the most part i have him on my lap playing, or I ...

Nathan has a flat head at the back where he lies. How do I get rid of it? CAN I get rid of it? He has tummy time each day though he isn't too fond of it and I also lie his head to one side when he sleeps but he moves it back.

i have noticed the back of my baby's head is a little flattened.  He rubs it back and forth in the crib when he is sleepy and he is even missing a little hair back there.  He doesn't have Frankenstein head or anything--but it kinda worries me.  He doesn't really spend time on his back except for when he is sleeping.  Anybody else notice this?

My son head is extremely flat on one side. It scares me because I don't want him to have this his whole life. Will he every grow out of this? I try to keep him off that side of his head as much as possible, but it is not making a difference. Does anyone else have this problem.

Maybe a stupid question but.. My baby girl hates being on her tummy and the back of her head is completely flat as a result! We try to do 5-10mins of tummy time 2x's a day but its obivously not enough.. What can I do? Will it stay flat? Besides for it not looking nice, can this be damaging as far as development goes? Should I let her sleep on her side at this point? She will be 4 months old on ...

Yes, tort babies prefer to look one way. They will look the other way if made to look that way (depending on the severity of the tort), but prefer to look one direction. My son's flat spot is on the right back "corner" so to speak, so it is not straight across. If your lo has a flat spot on one side like that, I would have your pedi see if she has a mild case of tort. You can have ...

Thankyou everyone. I took him to the mchn today and she suggested more tummy time with him. The flat spot isn't that bad so hopefully with extra tummy time it will go away on its own.

Try turning your baby's whole body around in the crib.  There might be something that LO is enjoying looking at and that may be why she constantly turns her head one way.  If you turn her whole body the other way she will probably still look at what she wants but will be on her other side.  You could also try to get a crib mobile and put it on the opposite side of where she is constantly looking...

I would try not to worry. Lily has a flat head on one side. I pointed it out to the consultant when they went for their last SCBU outpatients appointment and he said that as she gets older and starts sitting up more, it will improve. It's hard for me to see as I'm with her all day every day but I do think it is starting to get better. My girls hated tummy ...
