Vacuum line to Brake Booster needs to be disconnected and plugged to get cylinders 5 & 6 to fire on '71 FJ40. Steady 22 " hg vacuum at manifold from this line. Vaccum pump hooked to Brake booster shows the Booster loosing vacuum. Is this common? If not, can the booster be fixed without replacing it for $400. Thanks Derf 62

For a while my FJ40 has been giving me very low brake pressure, it isn't the vacuum hose, the brakes are bled, no leaks, and has enough fluid. What is wrong?!! Also when restoring I swapped out the broken front axle with a front axle that had disc brakes, from a newer FJ40. Anything wrong with that combination ? The brake booster is the original one, along with the rear brake lines. ...

Hello there. After probably two years thinking about it, I finally went ahead and bought a 1970 FJ40 from a man in Winnsboro, LA. I bid on it on eBay and eded up buying it for $3,550.00 the car does not seem to have over 100K. The engine sounds and starts pretty well. The car was kept in Colorado for most of its life, with a horrible almost agonizing ending in Louisiana (with all due ...
