My car just started acting up. When I take off in first gear the car lunges and the Rpm's go up and down. When I shift to second and any other gear it runs fine. If I start out in second it takes off smoothly. Any idea's??

I was wondering if it was possible to change out the first gear in my t56 from the 2.66 to a 2.97 or something else. The 2.66 really hurts when running the car N/A and is making my 11 second N/A pass a challenge.

Just got back from my first ride in my Ghia with it's new trans and engine. First things first: it doesn't want to go into first gear easily. Once it's there it shifts just fine into second and third. It's shifting back to second and first is the problem. What and where do I adjust this? Thanks!

Is this normal? When I am rolling completely on or off the throttle in first gear (ie driving on local street at 10-20-30 mph), the bike jerks as the transmission engages/disengages. I read that the twins love high rpm, I also read to not let the engine chug, so I've been somewhat hesitant to put it in 2nd gear too soon (also this can happen when I have it in 2nd to a certain extent at ...

Hello, I have a 2009 mustang gt with about 20k miles. I have taking the car to ford mutilple times for the grind, but it never does it with them. The problem is, it randomly does it. I can't find what causes the car to grind in 1st gear. The clutch will be push down to the ground and it will still act as if the clutch is not down. I have a spec 2 in the car thought it would help the problem. ...

The same as many other Focus, mine 07 Focus has simolar problem since it was new (thumping from 2nd to 1st gear when slowing down to a full stop).. I just read some posts that the PCU (power control unit) update service can solve this problem......dropped my Focus to my deal yesterday; however, they still can't detect any problem. They told me all my program is the newest version and o need to...

Hey everyone, I just purchased a 04 roadster with 50K miles on it. So far I love it except one thing. When I am downshifting and coming to a stop I can't shift into 1st gear until I basically almost come to a stop. I can shift up through the gears fine, and downshift all the way until first, then not into first until nearly stopped or maybe 3MPH. Makes it tough to roll through corners or ...

Have a noise in first gear on my ABY S2, 6 speed box, the noise comes in as soon as you pull away in 1st gear and noise kind of increases with road speed and goes away as soon as you take it out of gear into neutral or change upto 2nd. its quiet in all other gears. any common problems? is it supposed to be noisey? straight cut gear?

I have just seen pictures that First Gear has made a Mack Granite bridgemaster for Elmhurst Chicago Stone Company. The truck sports their 125th anniversary as well as the "Bebrightpink.org" and Breast Cancer logos. Only 480 will be made, stock number is 19-3852. These are not supposed to arrive at First Gear until Christmas so they won't be available till late '09 or early January.

Newbie looking for first MF gear - opinions please I apologize for posting so many this-mode-that-model questions. I'm trying to choose my first MF gears. With no experience of my own and entry price being rather high, I really want to be careful. My favorite subject is land-scape and nature. As such, portability is important. Also, my goal in entering MF is higher quality ...

Welcome to the 'everything about sloppy gear-changes' thread. Yeah, my first grind. Well, it finally happened; my 2 decades of grind-free manual driving came to a screeching halt . Was lazily shifting from 4th to 5th (around 3K rpm), showing my daughter how to shift , knob slipped momentarily (getting used to the new ZHP knob) so took me a ...

I firmly believe its a safety feature to keep you from doing something stupid It wont let you downshift if you are going to fast for the RPMs to handle the downshift. You have to be going very slow.. to get back into 1st. You really dont need it.. you can go rather slow through corners etc in 2nd gear. You can even take off from a stand still just fine in 2nd. so.. keep your mind off ...

thats exactly what I was looking for. I was just curious. I know things can get complicated and expensive with forced induction. Wouldn't it have been cheaper to just sell your car and pick up a used turbo? I have to assume the 13K difference would have been cheaper to go with a turbo and then Mod from there? of course I could be wrong? QUOTE (420 Tecra @ Nov 25, 2009 - 09:57 PM)...

I feather the clutch pretty much any time I'm in first gear unless I'm accelerating with the intention of shifting up to second. I recommend you ride to a big empty parking lot and really get to know your clutch's friction zone. I went from a 250 like they have in the safety course to a Speedmaster and it took some getting used to, just takes practice. Try to remember the exercises from the...
