Hi Mums, just after a few ideas for finger foods for my son who has just turned 8 months old. He is eating fairly lumpy food off spoon already, and is very keen to grab and try himself. I want to encourage this as much as possible, but am one of those terribly jumpy mums who hates the gag reflex and panics that everything is a choking hazard! So far have tried sugar free rusk/biccies, rice ...

So I've decided for Christmas Eve this year for dinner we will do a finger food picnic. The girls will get a kick out of it I think. So I need food ideas! I envision regular stuff like cut up fruit, crackers, sandwiches - what else? If you happen to know our allergy issues - don't worry about that - throw any and all idea out there. If nothing else it will get my mind running!

Just wanted to share the joy that my daughter found in eating, playing, slobbering and ripping up a flour tortilla tonight! I gave her one half of a 10-inch tortilla. I would guess that she actually ate about 1/2 of the 1/2 (or 1/4 of the 10-inch tortilla). I particularly enjoyed that they leave a less crumbly mess for me to clean than crackers and help to sop up the veggie puree that she was...

But I cannot make her drink any water- from sippy cup or from bottle. She takes just a sip from her spoon and then it is a battle. How do I make her drink water?? I also mashes some potatoes and bananas for her to take but she...

When my children were younger, we'd have themed dinners when DH traveled. One of our favorites toothpick dinner - everything has to be eaten with toothpicks.

It maybe a development delay as you stated or he may need to learn how to chew and swallow food. Some children just do not know how to do it and need to be taught. They need to learn how to chew and swallow food properly; it is not really an instinct behavior like sucking. If you are very concerned, then suggest getting him evaluated, by going to your MD, and start therapy so he ...

I don't get it with the nannies and food. My nanny leave my fridge empty and doesn't even bother mentioning we are out of soda, ice cream, tomatoes and everything else she's finishing up. Some days I feel like I'm working for her, keeping up with her appetite

A regular fast food order of chicken fingers is usually about 9-10 points (KFC, Arby's, etc), which is three good-sized fingers made from white meat. I'd figure on three points per finger if they're similarly sized.
