Hi all! I wonder if anyone out there can answer this question. I have recently acquired a Zeiss Ikon Contaflex IV, with an "inbuilt" light meter (manufactured circa 1957). The meter's setting dial (the 50+ years-old selenium cell lightmeter still functions )shows DIN film speeds with their corresponding ASA speeds. However, there's something funny going on, because the dial shows...

Hi all. I know this subject has been discussed before, but I am hoping to get some more specific comments. I bid on a X-rite 810 densitometer this week on ebay and it ended up going for $500US. Oh well, so much for getting a densitometer! I think this is pretty high a price for something I am only going to use occasionally. So I would like to consider the alternatives. 1) Stouffer ...

I recently picked up a very clean EOS-3 and I'm trying to learn all of its controls. One such feature is the ability to push the film speed. My questions are: 1.) How is pushing the film speed up (faster) one stop different from dialing in one stop of negative exposure compensation? 2.) If there is a difference when is one better than the other? 3.) How much ...

I had an interesting conversation with my art teacher the other day. She was talking to one of the people at the supply stores that we get film supplies from and he said that ASA/ISO's are completely wrong. He swears that you should half whatever the ASA/ISO on the film is on your camera. So if you would shoot a roll of 400 then you would set it as 200 on your camera. Your pictures should not ...

Hi, My sister just had a baby and wants me to come to the hospital and take some pictures for her. The room she is in has a huge picture window facing west and lets in a lot of natural light. I don't want to screw this up and I have been pretty crappy at indoor photography in the past. I will be using a Yashica Minister D and a Minolta SRT 201. Both have built in meters (though ...

I currently have ilford xp2 400 in my trip and the Asa is set to 400, thats what i guess you do. From a newbie wanting to get contrasty and grainy b/w pictures is there any relationship between the asa set and the actual film speed, can i change the way the film works by setting asa 100 for eg? I don,t develop myself so i am stuck to a few films. I shoot buildings and people in good ...

There has been a lot of speculation that Kodak's recommendations (7.5 for B, iirc) for HC-110/Tri-X are off. I've had good luck with ~5.5-6 minutes.
