I only just thought about this! Movies shown at the cinema were always on a reel of film and projected with a projector. What happens with new films these days? What with the digital revolution I'm wondering if movies are now recorded in digital format somehow - or is it still old-fashioned film stock?

B & H Sales Rep claims they sell more 8X10 than 4X5 film. I find this impossible to believe. Please indicate your film format - indicate most frequently used if you work with more than one. 1) 2x3 2) 4x5 3) 5x7 4) 8x10 5) 11x14 6) Other Thanks all.

Here's a recap the basics of the film/sensor format and lens focal length topic from last week's APG (10-20-09). FILM AND SENSOR FORMATS Film frames (and digital sensors) are referred to by their size designation, and are roughly grouped into 3 categories: Small Format 35mm film and smaller. The 35mm format gives a frame size of 24x36mm and is the standard upon which ...

This has probably been discussed at length, but I suspect there is a correlation between percentage of keepers and film format (120 vs 35 mm vs Digital). I think I get a much higher percentage of good shots with the shorter (in frames) rolls of 120. The only reason I don't use that all the time is the hassle of carrying it. If carrying the camera and associated equipment was not an issue, ...

Just a quick question- I am looking into buying a medium format Holga camera, maybe something like this Lomographic Holga Starter Kit . Is it possible to get medium format film developed locally, or do is that something that must be done yourself or in a special lab?

Anyone know of a source of film sleeves for WP (6.5"x8.5") format? I'll use 8x10 if there aren't any but the persnickety part of me would like the exact size... This place: http://www.climaxphoto.com/wide_format_sleeves.htm sells 4x10, 5x12, 7x11, 7x17, 8x20, 10x12, etc.

The less than stellar high-ISO performance of MF cameras rarely will be an issue, since they are mostly used in studios or studio like settings, with a high performance flash setup or other good light sources. Most MF cameras are variations of the 'cuboid' design used by Hasselblad and it's peers. Handling is very different from dSLR's, these cameras aren't really suited for hand held shooting....

Thanks for the input. I have about 35-40 rolls of Fujichrome still in its foil and some sort of no name film that only has ASA 400 in big black text on a white wrapper and a couple rolls of Konica. I got it from a former pro photographer who got out of the photography business. Most of it is 10 years old or more He kept it frozen in a ziplock bag and I put it back into the freezer ...

Re: Riteway vs Fidelity cut film holders Has anyone ever heard of Studio Pro film holders? I've got a few of those and I like them quite a lot. They have black metal dark slides. __________________ Michael W. Graves Michael's Pub If it ain't broke....don't fix it!

It is likely that there is a local outfit that processes 120 film in NO. However, it will be a "pro lab" and not a corner drugstore outfit. Otherwise, one can send film vial the mail for this service. I live far enough from the pro lab that I have my C-41 films developed by a local grocery store: they can process the negatives, but cannot print them. Then I simply scan the negatives myself (...

2d, 3d, or 3d-imax? considering how much you trash you like to talk about avatar- i have to assume that you've seen the entire film...otherwise your posts would reek of incessant & ignorant jealousy of cameron's success- and you claim that isn't it- so you must be making an informed judgement after seeing the film in it's entirety, and i'm just curious as to which format you saw it in. i saw it...
