does anyone know what determines the default order in which files/folders are listed by Windows ? it's not random, because if you use "DIR" from a command line, or if you use FindFirstFile/NextFile, or .Net's Directory.GetFiles (or GetFolders) they all list files in the same order - but it's not sorted by date, or by name, or size or by anything i can identify. anyone know ?

I'm not sure if this can be done with DCM, but here's what I want to do.  A file called xxx.exe (along with other files and folders) should be located at D:\dir.  If xxx.exe exists in any other folder, the contents of that folder should be deleted. Can DCM be utilized for this purpose?  Any suggestions on how this can be accomplished?  Thanks.

I am in the process of installing some anti-virus software (AVG) on my laptop.  During the setup, the process stops to recommend I do not proceed until a competitor's (McAfee) software has been removed.  I am familiar with this practice so I proceed to look for the 'software' in Add/Remove but am unable to locate it.  Thinking it is possible it has been placed in another location, I attempt to ...

Not only do I hate that every directory is automatically sorted in WIN7 (compared to XP), why do File Folders always have to be at the top of the list?   This makes it even harder to find what I am looking for. The way it currently works is  especially wrong of I am sorting by TYPE.  Suppose I am looking for a .TXT file in a directory with 50 folders and many files of various types.  I know ...

Hi, I would like to know if it’s possible to AUTO open a file - inside a folder, by double clicking the folder itself, e.g. If I have a FOLDER with 4 files in it - FILE A - FILE B - FILE C - FILE D, what I would like to happen is, when I double click on the FOLDER - for the FOLDER to open with FILE B, or the file of my choice.
