weren't hers?? My family and I used to breed small dogs. One female dog we had was a very, very good mother. If I could describe her as if she were a human mother, I'd describe her this way: She'd be the mother who would be wearing dresses and have her little apron on as she was baking pies or cookies in the kitchen. The children would be running around and if one of them did something naughy,...

My female spayed foster (approx 6 mths) has started to hump my other two females (5yrs and 7 months). Any idea as to why she might be doing this? Could it be because she has been here long enough to try and establish a higher position in the pack? Any other ideas? She seems to be increasing the amount of times she tries to do it, although every time it starts I tell her to stop and she ...

Is there anything that can be done for a 4yr old female dog with recurrent bladder stones? She has been on antibiotics and special dog food, but the stones come back. Now she is dribbling in the house. She is a very sweet little dog. (shiitzu). Thank you. lmtzl

Help! We just adopted a 6mo old puppy but she is already bleeding. A few days ago she was hyper and now she is not active at all. She is eating and drinking but sometimes she yelps like she is in pain and it seems hard for her to sit. She will stand around mostly in one spot for a long time. When I give her treats she stands and eats it. Could she be having menstral cramps and can I give her ...

I could, I suppose, just put this in the "Things that suck" thread, but it would be insufficiently cathartic. My mother-in-law is a bitch. She'll sort of come off nice for a while, then stab you in the back. The family and I are staying with the in-laws for a few days around Christmas (God help me) and so I'm working on something in the ...

Oh COME on now. Dogs do not menstruate. There is no way that your vet said that or used that term in reference to a dog. That is a condition of human females only. Dogs have heat cycles when they are ready to be bred. The bleeding does not signal the end of the cycle as in human females. It is a product of the inflammation of the lining of the uterus as it prepares itself to support a ...

Well, I hope the breeder figures it out. I don't know much about timing beyond knowing Smalls heat schedule, which is now irrelevant since she was fixed a couple months ago.

Roxy does this to my male dog - she is telling him who is boss rather than playing though (not that he seems to mnd ) As Alfie doesn't react to it - other than walking away when he's had enough we tend to leave her unless she really starts to bother him then a quick 'no' and she stops.

Replying to: 4yr female dog w/ bladder stones I don't know that much about it, but found a site called bladderstonesindogs.. I don't know reliable the information is, but it might give you a place to start researching. You might also want to check out the Merck manual of veterinary medecine and that might help you with some questions to ask the doctor. Best of luck to you both. Cora...
