As per some of the excellent threads and stickies, I bought 3 tubes of the toyota 10,000 silicon oil, pulled my viscous fan out to adjust it as the car has been running hot in this heat (as measured with a Speco guage with the probe in the hole for the std guage sensor). So when I got the fan clutch apart I undid the two gold screws to adjust the preload of the bi-metal spring as you can see in...

Hello Dere, I just removed my fan clutch from my 03 Dakota 3.9 V6 2wd Auto 180 stat, and I dont see that my electric fan is kicking on. I purposely let it idle in Park, to test it to make sure it is in fact working, so I can be on the road and know that it is working, but I am in my garage, in Park with engine running, Temp needle reaches exactly 1/2 way or straight up, & nothing is ...

hi. Il live in Panama City (Panama) and today after un air filter change i noticed that the base (plastic ring) of the fan blades, witch "clips" the fan motor, is seriously cracked. I will replace it asap. Dont want the blades to disloque and pierce the radiator. But what worries me most is when i turne the blades, the fan motor is king of loose around the axle. Like if it was mounted on the axle...

Well further to my recent 'overheating' thread It seams I may have solved the problem. The viscous fan does not seem to be spinning very fast and when engine at idle I can stop it with a stick. ...yeah I realize thats not a good idea but I could not think of another way to test. I have found a few websites on how to fix it, using 10,000cst oil (viscosity of honey). I would much ...

My visco fan clutch died yesterday on my 2.8TDI GU. I looked on ebay and there is only one seller who got it for 190$. Also I looked in the Nissan dealership and the price is 500$. Anyone know can I put fan clutch from other Nissan 4x4's? I saw that for pathfinders and xterra's viscos are a lot cheaper than patrol's

So earlier this summer, about 1 hr into a 10 hour road trip my fan clutch decides to go while I'm in gridlock. In a miraculous chain of events, I found a garage (out of business hours) that had a supplier that got the part and installed it for me inside of an hour. Wonderful. Being more than happy that we were on the road again I took little notice of the amount of air it was blowing (and ...

My C280 started to make a clanking sound as if I threw a rod. *whew* not the case. BUT, the fan clutch mount ($125), which has bearings in it went out instead. It lead to a loud clanking noise which prevented me from going faster than 20mph. Also my Serpentine belt ($35) was dry rotted and about to give out. in addition, my tech said an "accuator" was gone too ($29...

There were 2 things I was going to replace on my 04 F150 when I realised maybe only one is the culprit. The truck rarely reaches standard operating temperature, I assumed the thermostat was stuck open. But I have a second problem, I am sure fan clutch is shot because most of the time it roars like a semi tractor off the line. Could my engine not be warming up because...

my fan and a/c clutch is always on and i think its my ccrm but ive been doing research and ive never heard of a ccrm causing this. all ive heard is that it prevents the a/c from working and never anything about the fan. my question is could anything else cause this and would the ccrm prevent the car from starting?

I managed to buy one at the local shop. It's brand new and works excellent. When I asked in the shop they said they don't have it for the GU's....decided to buy one for GQ from 1993 and they are exactly the same and price was amazing.....130$. I am located in Croatia in EUROPE

i found if you take an air chisel to the nut on the left side right on the edge it will often get it to break loose and you do not have to worry about holding the belt or anything
