This is actualy for my 302 ranger project. I am looking to use a factory fan and clutch style setup out of a 86-93 5.0. The factory fan clutch is a tad too long and too close to my radiator. Is there another fan clutch out there that will fit my water pump but is more shallow than the 86-93 clutch? I know ford used a reverse thread-screw on fan clutch in the 5.0 explorers and other models ...

At what temps should my fan clutch be kicking on? I pulled a pretty good load today and saw temps up to 210 and never heard the fan kick on.. I know 210 isn't all that hot but I haven't heard my fan kick on in a long time.. I checked for tension on the clutch and everything feels okay.

I'm going to do the blue fan clutch mod on both 80's this week and had my wife pick up some diff fluid at the local hobby store. The stuff she got was 7000 CPS. What's the difference between CST and CPS?

I'm overheating and want to test the fan clutch. I check it cold and the fan spins freely. Just can't remember how to test them. Tried search came up with 30 pages of replys.. no help there.
