I have FIOS and just purchased a flat screen for my office, which I want to hang on the wall. Issue - Set Box and where to place it. I understand I can move the box to a another space and use a repeater to transmit the signal from the box to the TV. I want to place the box on a shelf under my desk about 5 ft from the tv and out of the way. Questions: 1. Rather than run a new FIOS cable...

Hi all, After being a loyal high-speed internet customer (8yrs DSL and 1yr FIOS), Verizon sent a letter to me showing their appreciation. In return, they want to increase the price from $42.99 to $52.99. I have to pay $120 additional a year. The funny thing is doing it without trying to explain why the price is increased or no speed upgrade to offer in return. Basically, they just asked for ...

I'm moving in a week and currently have comcast along with my two routers: a dual-band linksys and trusty wrt54g. I'm looking to get fios with the TV and DVR service but still not sure how this will work. Can I just set my current routers up as APs off of the VZ router? I assume this will still let me use the TV features. Also, will the VZ router allow for port forwarding? Thanks.

Printer is HP OfficeJet D145. It is connected to USB 2.0 port in Dell Vostro Desktop PC (Windows XP Home SP3). From desktop PC, all printer functions are normal. Two weeks ago, before FIOS router was installed (Model 9100EM), I could print from laptop (Windows XP Home SP3) via Wi-Fi connection to router. The router is connected to PC via Ethernet cable. The only connection to the ...

I have FIOS with the HD QIP6200-2 set top box. This may sound really basic but I want to understand how to turn it on and off. There seem to be two different ways of doing it. One way is with either the remote control or the on/off button on the front of the box. Doing either of these, when the unit is "off" it shows the time and when it's "on" it shows the channel for a moment, then the ...

I just ordered FIOS internet and it says that FIOS software will be installed on my "primary PC". What is the purpose of this software? Why do I need to designate one PC as the "primary" PC? I have a home network and any PC may be on or off at any time. There isn't a "Primary" one. When I had comcast installed, they jsut sent the modem. No software needed to be installed on any of my PCs. ...

...This isn't exactly a Tivo Question, but you are the only guys I know who could answer it. My parent's have FiOS, and I'd like to stream from my Mac to the DVR. However, the situation is similar to with Tivo: while there are "official" means to stream video PC->DVR, the Mac Version can only stream audio and photos PC->DVR. Does anyone know of any hacks that would let me do this? ...

I got FIOS and ever since then, the hag's HP laptop won't connect to it properly; it's a hit or a miss and about 80% of the time, it's a miss. it's actually documented and there's not fix. i can't remember what the issue is but whatever... When i had cable i used my linksys router and it worked flawless. now i want to piggy back the linksys as, i guess, a repeater (?) or bridge to the ...

I am starting not to believe them after 6 weeks. I have Go-Video unites that have worked fine with other cable companies and also with Direct dish they recorded all programs on what ever channel I set the box's to. BUT we just got FIOS and many times it will not record and it just says the programs are copy-protected. No matter what kind or what channel it is set to I only have a 50 50 ...

Just moved to Winter Hill, Somerville and need an internet/TV package (don't need a land line phone). After checking, verizon FiOs is not available in my area, but regular verizon is, as well as RCN and Comcast. After some research on here, most people seem to hate RCN, and comcast doesn't look much better. Any help??? THANKS!

I've had it with Comcast's greed and I intend to switch to FIOS, unless fellow TUGGERS convince me otherwise. I'd even consider Direct TV. I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thanks. Gary

I have 3 HD sets in the house. Today Lyn was watching one TV in the front of the house, and I had the same channel on in the back. My program was about 8 seconds behind hers. WTF??? Is it because my receiver is a DVR and hers is not? I wouldn't think that should cause an 8 second delay, and it was not recording anything while this occurs. Powered off/on, same delay.

O.k. stay with me. I have a Verizon wireless phone with a Georgia area code but I live in Virginia and have a separate FioS account. Everytime I call in for a Fios problem to the 155 number I get routed everywhere except the Virginia Fios department. I even have humans route me everywhere but where I need to be. Last time I talke to Verizon Fios support I got offered a special number and ...
