At boot on 2010.0 what creates the special devices for disk partitions, like /dev/sdb6? I'm working on a new disk, a 1TB Westerb Digital (WD10EARS, yes, this is the one with 4096 byte physical blocks) and these devices are created when fdisk writes the partition table, but they are not created again at reboot. So 2010.0 CAN create them, it just doesn't at reboot. No warnings ...

However, when I connect my mobile phone or USB HD via the same port, they show up in fdisk and can be mounted without any...

Greetings to all, I decided to do a fresh install of Mint Linux 8 to replace Mint 6. During the installation I set the location of the Boot loader to hda9. Alas the chainloader from PCLOS 2009 fails and there's no menu.lst file on hda9 fdisk gives Disk /dev/hda: 120.0 GB, 120034123776 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 14593 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065...
